null: ... I must admit that The Witcher is one of the things on my list to re-watch when I cash in the $1000 I won off a Trumper cow-orker betting on the election results for a new TV (4K or even 8K with all the trimmings) to replace my aging basic DLP HD set.

/the LG OLEDs look soooo tempting

Oooooh, you're expecting a Trump supporter to pay his debts? You know he's gonna try to get out of it by claiming it was illegitimate, right?

Best of luck, but I think Witcher S2 will probably be viewed on your DLP...

This show was one of my pleasant discoveries this covid season. Along with The Umbrella Academy, The Boys, and The Expanse. Excellent shows, and an argument that NOW is the "Golden Age of Televison" with TV replaced with streaming.

The Expanse Season 5 drops Dec 19th on Amazon Prime.

If you've seen the show already, do yourself a favor and re-watch it before Seasons 2 comes out.  It's a much better show when you already have your head wrapped around the timeline quirks.

Walker: I've never watched it. It seems a little stabby.

I'll give you a good reason to watch:

It was not as good as the first 6 seasons of Game of Thrones, but much better than the last 2 seasons.

It can be a confusing mess until you realize they're jumping through time as well as locations when changing scenes/characters. It comes together for the most part by the end but is obviously more of a prequel/setup to what's actually coming.

Henry Cavill does a pretty good job for the most part. The first episode has him massacring a group of thieves and I think it was all done in one shot (or at least hid edits very well).

I always appreciate when a director has enough faith in their audience to pull some chronological shenanigans with their storytelling. I think they pulled it off beautifully in The Witcher. Really looking forward to the second season.

/and the next season of The Expanse
//still have to watch season 2 of The Boys
///and really, really excited for Wheel of Time

I had my doubts (mostly because she doesn't look like Eva Green) but damn, she is Yenn.

They were not that complicated.

Especially if you've read the books/played the games since the show.

Totally agree. I ended up re-watching it with my wife... and since I had already seen it I was able to explain to her when we were flashing forward or backward in time/space to keep her understanding what was going on. If she'd have just watched it straight, without anyone explaining the context, she would have been totally lost.

Awesome show if you don't have to worry about that confusion though. Part of it is that there's a whole lot of time difference between some scenes they jumped to, but with characters who basically don't age - so it's hard to tell that time has passed. Even for ones who do, like Jaskier (sp?) it wasn't very obvious.

I know they've said they heard the feedback and are planning the second season to be more linear, and be more obvious about when they are skipping forwards/backwards to a different time period. Even if they'd have labelled the start of each scene with a year it was happening in though, the jumping back and forth in season 1 would still have been jarring because they did it so much.
