Why should they be any different from the hundreds of businesses Trump has stolen from?

They should ALL get lawyers and sue him.

I need a Fark lawyer to help me here

but if he can be proven to have defrauded the same kind of entity - police hired for security, a municipality etc. - in multiple instances, would that constitute racketeering?

It's the classic "Don't worry, it's taken care of" con. By the time the city finds out it's not, he's already fled town. You're never getting the money.

Trump did that to a town in Ohio too. Told them "The Secret Service is paying for it". So the town approached the SS and they said "Uhhh no. We don't pay for rallies. Who told you that? We're the President's personal security detail, not event planners."

Can't believe so many people fall for this. I bet he does this in restaurants all the time. Hasn't needed to pay for a meal in years.

Stop allowing deadbeat candidates to appear on the ballot. If Trump wants to make another run in 2024 make him pay off his existing campaign debts first.

Why not file a report with the credit bureaus? I think people might want to know that this Donald Trump fella likes to welsh on his debts.

// I mean, without these reports, someone who doesn't know better might loan him a few hundred million

These lawyers are really good. They got the outstanding balance down from $2M to $500K between the time this article was posted and the time I read it.

At this point, there should be an FEC rule that requires any entity that provides services to a political campaign without being paid up front to report those services as a donation to the campaign.  Once the campaign pays for the services, they can report that the donation has been returned.

Can't the unpaid just get together as a class and file a class action suit against the serial grifters, Donald Trump AND the Republican Party?

If that rotten orange asshole bankrupts his campaign so there's no money there to collect, they should sue the Republican Party to collect.

They're doing it in Gettysburg today, leaving the bill for the PA Republicans to pick up.

Yeah Trump owes Tucson around $130k for his only two rally visits. Our mayor is pretty pissed.

See, this mistake here is that a city has the resources to fight this, and a small businessman doesn't.

Plus, look at Trump's lawyers. If El Paso can get Rudy representing them, they'd probably gain their independence from Texas.

They kind of do that... ish.  The FEC requires reports every year that they still owe.  When Rudy ran for president he had to file for years based on debt, not on money still in the coffers.

The debt may be transfered to another committee of the same party.  So it is entirely possible the RNC will be on the hook.

If you don't get your money up front with that grifting sack of shiat and his family, you get what you deserve...

Having said that, I hope they sue the fark out of him and win.

I would assume the tRump 2020 campaign is close to shutting down and the Trump 2024 campaign is close to starting up, and that both are separate entities, and that neither campaign has obligations to the other.

So, good luck with that.

It would be delightful if Trump was forced to liquidate all his assets and then pay all the people he has stiffed over decades before being shuttled into Rikers.

They bought their ticket, let them crash.

No one in NY will do business with Trump without getting paid up front. Even construction jobs that are typically 50% up front, balance upon completion, they double their estimates because they know he'll fight paying in the end.

No no, let him get hauled off to Rikers first. Then he can watch and be unable to tweet about it as he hears about all of his shiat being seized.
