Now release it all for free on bandcamp to really stiff the asses who have the rights to the originals.
(or use the pay what you want option if you MUST milk it further, but really this isn't the time for that.)
Fans and newcomers will immediately go for those versions instead of the originals, and someone will be out of a lot of money. Yeah, they might try to sue but as long as you have the publishing to the songs, you should be in the good. if you're worried about that, they could "accidently" be leaked to some file sharing sites.

Thanks, submitters, for a much needed laugh at the trifecta and a general guffaw at Taylor Swift who has never made me laugh before.

I like that idea. If one of the most successful artists around doesn't fark with the current business model, who will?

Trent Reznor put up some free NIN stuff over time, the Ghost series and a more "traditional" nine inch nails album on Archive.org , and a remastered copy of the notorious Broken film on pirate bay.
I was really hoping that would have had more impact on the industry than it did. With Taylor doing it others would be more likely to follow suit. Not that NIN doesn't have any pull, they were just way too early to the party.

What I don't understand about this whole masters thing, is what about the song writing royalties and performance? Does she still get paid if the master tapes are used for commercial purposes? Music royalties are a confusing mess.

He is a pioneer. Walls this size don't come down in one piece. There is a lot of chipping before the structure collapses.

Now I want a NIN/Swift collaboration. Maybe an intense bluegrass song.
