(KSTP St. Paul)   Even if Wisconsin wins the rest of their games this season, they won't have enough to qualify for the championship. Tag is for Gophers, this week   (kstp.com) divider line

Where does it mention not being title eligible in the article? I thought I saw that this year they discarded the six win rule.

If Wisconsin wins the rest of their games and if Northwestern loses two games I would fully expect the Big Ten to squeeze in one more game for Wisconsin somehow to get them eligible for the Big Ten championship game. This season has a ton of "figure it out as we go along" already, it wouldn't be surprising to see a little more added now.

chucknasty: this season is an *

We're gonna need a bigger ✱

Something that can be seen from space or maybe larger than that

Schools like freakin Liberty U have played 8 games already while a Power 5 program has played just one (Utah). Very cool and very normal season.

It'll be Northwestern, who will get smoked

If Iowa can beat Nebraska and Wisconsin, we will all be happy

I forgot to add - should that scenario occur and Wisconsin is given that sixth game to become eligible (against Minnesota, Nebraska, or Purdue I would imagine) I would fully expect them to lose that game and fark up the extra chance that was given to them.

Not talking about Bowl eligibility.  Talking about eligibility for the B1G Championship Game.  When the 8-game schedule was drawn up, it was determined that 6 games had to be played to be eligible for the title game shot (and Wisconsin now stands at 5 games), UNLESS the average number of games played drops lower, then the threshold is 'no more than 2 less than the average'.

And the longest rivalry in college football gets the axe.
