Between Babylon's Ashes and Persepolis Rising in the book series 30 years pass. Probably not doable in the television series.

Why not?

And Cas Anvar isn't coming back for season 6.

Good.

Which sucks a lot, as I always liked his portrayal of Alex. Thankfully book-Alex is still not a terrible human.

Now if the guys whoa re collectively known as James S. A. Corey could stop doing their GRRM impression and finish the series, I'd be fine.

Huh?

Leviathan Wakes (2011)
Caliban's War (2012)
Abaddon's Gate (2013)
Cibola Burn (2014)
Nemesis Games (2015)
Babylon's Ashes (2016)
Persepolis Rising (2017)
Tiamat's Wrath (2019)
Leviathan Falls (2021)

That's pretty good, way better than Martin. Also, much less talk about what food they're all eating.

That's not even counting the short stories and the fact that they are at least somewhat involved in the show as well.

The quality like almost all series is variable but the output has been very consistent.

I just got prime and fire stick a few weeks ago and still haven't figured out the menu too well so I can't find stuff that I've heard about like this and might even watch.

Agreed, but we've got to make some sacrifices when shiatty people come to light.

Speaking of, I've still got to crack open Leviathan wakes. I have the first three books just waiting for me.

Do it!! Yes, the show is awesome, but the books are so much better.

My biggest complaints on US TV is that it continues for as long as it makes money - instead of telling story arc by arc. I'd rather a series die at the end of an arc then go on forever on a meandering path and eventually die.

I think this is why things like The Expanse and The Boys are so successful - They're based on content that already has an arc that they can play off of, and several end points available.

Sure beats something like big bang theory

So are they getting a new Alex or is he dying on the way back to his home planet?

Minimizing spoilers, there's a path for Alex to leave easily in book 5. It's actually written in, so the producers will have no problem writing him out.

Small piece of advice. When you finally start reading the first book, if you're halfway through and feeling a bit "meh" about it..... KEEP READING.

I started reading it because of people on Fark recommending it so much. Once I finally did, I almost stopped halfway through. Not because it was bad, but because I was just very underwhelmed. "This is what everyone is going nuts about? It's.... OK" is what I was thinking. Then, towards the end of the first book shiat gets real and it all just clicked. I was suddenly fully hooked, and understood the hype.

You might not have that problem if you've already watched the show. You'll already understand the context and world they're building up in the beginning. But if you do... just at least finish the first book. By the time you get to the end you'll probably be hooked too.

While I like The Expanse, I'd happily trade it for finishing SGU.
