I love that show. They filmed a whole lot of it in my neighborhood, I know a lot of people who worked on the set. I wish 4 would hurry up and come out.

So there's Stranger Things and Parks & Rec... are there any other shows set in Indiana but clearly filmed elsewhere?

Oh. "Eerie, Indiana".    DUH.

I loved that show.

You can kind of get away with using Georgia as Indiana, but good luck pulling off Indiana in New Mexico.

I don't know.  A good number of people probably have no clue where Indiana is or what it looks like so it doesn't really matter.

But using Atlanta as Pittsburgh ... no. Believe me, no.

I understand your pain. But you can't rush these things. They'll come out to their friends and family in their own time.

Taking a left turn at Albuquerque is the way to Pismo Beach. Missing it will having you ending up in the Sahara.

Article doesn't say anything about West Bakersfield.

2020-11-24 2:35:58 PM
The article made it sound like they haven't even started production yet?

The third season of Stranger Things finished filming in November of 2018! Yeah, I know that Covid kind of killed production in 2020, but shouldn't they have been doing something all through 2019? There was 8 months between filming completion and release. If this is true I don't think that we will see season 4 until 2022.

Still haven't watched season 3....is it worth it?

Sure but will the Stranger Things be stranger than getting a box of a dozen starving, crazed weasels at a donut shop?

It is good, but it is easier to spot the flaws. Also, less horror and more thriller.

Watched a movie one time that was set in Houston. Filmed elsewhere. There were mountains in the background. Houston is so flat that a topographical map has no lines.

The original, at least.

Coach McGirk: MusicMakeMyHeadPound: So there's Stranger Things and Parks & Rec... are there any other shows set in Indiana but clearly filmed elsewhere?

The Middle?

The Middle looked okay. I don't recall anything that was too unlike Indiana.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt looked okay too.  There is a scene where Lillian and Jacqueline are driving to Durnsville and they are stopped at a gas station near the Ohio Indiana border and there is a US 30 sign in the background .  The distance they give for how far they have to go puts Durnsville around the Columbia City /Warsaw area . And that's about right for being a good place for a farcical doomsday cult .

Just like those snow capped mountains in the Bronx.

Is the fourth season going to be one where monsters show up, some people die, the kids are almost defeated, and then the girl develops an awesome power and kills the monsters at the last minute?

I could never get over the original "True Grit" having the Rockies in the background. West Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma aren't flat, but there are no snow capped peaks.

I find it amusing in The Waltons (don't judge me!) that somehow Nelson County, Virginia came to closely resemble the Tehachapi Mountains of California.Or that Northern Virginia somehow looks like deepest Georgia after the zombie apocalypse.

\Protip to TWD: that river (and county) in West-by-God Virginia is pronounced "Kuhnaw"

Manhattan really struck me as "Pittsburgh, but more" - more people, more traffic, and more (and higher) buildings, but it had the same feel. I don't know how else to explain it,
