What about paying people with tax cuts? Get vaccinated, get a 20% tax cut on your 2021 taxes.

/this will be the republican plan

Makes complete sense to me which is why it'll never happen.

Republicans gave the American people $4.44 per day to survive a global pandemic, there's no chance in hell they would pay people to get vaccinated.

Actually a cheaper way would be to give every participant a lottery ticket with a million dollar prize in each state

(I suggest should do that for voters as well)

No, the Republican plan will be to give a tax cut to a multinational corporation for every vaccinated American

They're exciting to announce that you can pick the corporation you want to benefit!

While I agree this is a good idea I feel their would be many court cases against it.

What happens if people say they can't for religious reasons and this is discriminatory against them.

Seems in practice it would be hard to actually do.

Sure, why not? I convinced my husband to get a flu shot for the first time ever because the grocery store offers a 10% off groceries coupon if you do it through the pharmacy. He thinks Home Depot should do a vaccine clinic with the same deal.

Incentivize that shiat.

It's too bad that most of prospective vaccines have a two dose regimen, otherwise I'd say set up outside bars and give free drinks for a vaccine jab to the touchy-feely drunks that cause a disproportionate number of infections.

Up front: I think it's a crap excuse as well.

That said, a lot of Catholics in my country have been biatching about one of the vaccine candidates on account of it requiring the use of stem cells.

I don't agree with them, and I certainly think they should spend more time getting their own house in order, but that's going to be one of the arguments.

Why's that? I am an insulin dependent diabetic with genetic stage 2 hypertension with friends who are first responds that are adamant about the virus not being real, who don't want the vaccine because they are anti-vax.  Why must I wait longer than them for something I want?  My step-daughter is quarantined with her father and his wife who are covid positive while she is not, as of yet, or at least not showing symptoms and her quarantine is going to run through the end of December.  We can not gaurantee 100% safety for me and my fiance when she can come home.

So, what the fark is your problem?

I'd accept a tax credit, actually.   Per person, of course, none of this fixed amount per household shiat like SALT.

I've long said we should create a tax credit for vaccinating your kids $500 per kid, per year, lasts until they're 18.

How do we pay for it? Reduce the existing deduction by $500

Zero cost, extremely high compliance rate

What happens to a state lottery if some people have religious objections to gambling?
What happens to paying military personnel if some people are conscientious objectors?

This is a public health emergency.  The vacinne must be mandatory.

2020-11-24 2:19:53 AM
Nobody needs to pay me to get it. I can't wait to get it. I'm tired of being scared every shift I work that it will be the one that I contract the virus! I'll be relieved when it is available to us in big box retail.

I read an article today in which Doctors are trying to get the CDC and the makers of the vaccine to alert people that there ARE "responses" (not side effects, they dislike that term) to the vaccine; ie: chills, aches, severe headache and fever after the first dose. The majority of those who experienced them said it lasted only one day though. The doctors concerns about that are that people would not go back for the second round because they'd fear the "response" again, which they WILL. Again, those who did have the response said to plan on just taking the next day off after taking the vaccine, because it will occur the second time too.
That's what I'll do. I'm going to request a pto for the day after the first shot and again after the second.
I'm so ready to not be scared of getting covid anymore.

/My biggest fear of getting covid is being asymptomatic and unwittingly passing it to others
//Yes I worry about myself too if it's a bad case, but more for the spreading to others part
///The thought of being a typhoid Mary makes me nauseous 😣

How farking stupid has this country become that we're seriously discussing bribing people to be a little bit responsible?  I say we institute a vaccination lottery that works like the draft.  When your number is called you show up to get vaccinated, and if you don't you go to jail.  Conscientious objectors can flee to Somalia like the patriots they are.

You guys go ahead.  I'll wait for the first few rounds.  i'm not injecting shiat that's been developed under the Trump admin without watching other people go first and fortunately, I won't lose my job if I don't.  And truthfully, other people need it more, if it's not cut a bunch of corners.

Pfizer was developed in Germany and didn't even take a cent from the American vaccine program.

AstraZeneca is the Oxford vaccine.

The only one that's developed "under Trump" is Moderna.

If you don't trust the FDA anymore, see which ones are given approval by the EU, Korea, Japan, et al.

I guarantee you all of them are safer than even a mild case of covid. We don't know the long-term effects of that either but vaccines are unlikely to cause heart damage and covid seems to.

Paying people to take a vaccine in the U.S. is not the issue if its free already.
This has nothing to do with socializing medicine either.
The issue is PR. We can win the PR battle.
