It is a sad, lonely, and difficult road being the leader of the Alberta Liberal Party.

The leader of the BC Liberal party also resigned on Saturday, following an underwhelming election performance last month.

Albertans hate the federal liberals way too much to elect the provincial version. That's why you saw the ndp win when the vote on the right was split even though they're generally considered further left than the liberals

Aren't the Alberta Liberals a lot like the BC Conservatives in being more a scary story told to kids at night than actually anywhere near power?

They had nothing to offer that the NDP wasn't already bringing to the table. Left leaning Albertans need to snuff out the Liberals so as to not split the progressive vote next election. The cowards running the UCP need to step up and actually lead during this pandemic, asking people to 'do the right thing' has resulted in just what you might expect. People not doing the right thing. Selfish and cowardly people seem to gravitate to and vote for right wing parties, why is that?

He's supposed to be making piles of skulls and razing cities to the ground, not schmoozing for votes, how disappointing.

Pretty much yeah.  It's nice to have a left wing party in Alberta, it's just weird that it's the NDP...

I'm Albertan, and I vote fed liberal last few elections.  I've also voted for harper once.  Canadian aren't stuck to a specific party.  Heck, when I was in bc I voted ndp at one point.

/will never vote Bloc or Green

Good ole' Nellie McClung still has a school named after her in Calgary. While she did push for some positive social reforms, the forced sterilization of thousands of women that failed to meet her standards puts an asterisk on any good she may have accomplished. The best part is it took until 1972 to abolish the Sexual Sterilization Act she helped create in 1928. Almost 5000 women underwent forced sterilization because of her efforts.

Here's a nice tidbit from the Wiki:
Examination of sterilization records demonstrates that legislation did not apply equally to all members of society. Specifically, the Act was disproportionately applied to those in socially vulnerable positions, including females, children, unemployed persons, domestics, rural citizens, unmarried, institutionalized persons, Roman and Greek Catholics, and persons of Ukrainian, Native and Métis ethnicity.

Seriously farking this. Fark Kenny, and triple fark Dr. Hinshaw, her bullshiat gave them cover to do all kinds of stupid shiat. "I believe opening schools is safe" and all that. We're almost tied with daily cases with Farking Ontario and they have THREE TIMES Alberta's population.

Almost tied?  We passed Ontario today in daily cases iirc, so I guess we're on the wrong side of "almost" there

Yup, the numbers I was looking at were for yesterday, so we're doing worse than a province with three times our population, led by a farking Ford brother.

watching the news I'm starting to look at Hinshaw and thinking, "Hey she's kind of cute". If I start to say the same for Teresa Tam... send help!

Pretty sure some form of lockdown is coming though. Which is fine. Generally I find that people here in Ft. Mcmurray are doing a good job of behaving in public (wearing masks etc) we really do end up lining up to get into Walmart or Canadian Tire as they're generally the only big stores here to get a lot of stuff easily.

Doing what places like Winnipeg are doing as far as limiting what you can buy in store and forcing people to pick up etc is probably needed :(

Trudeau, Trudeau, Trudeau.
Say it backwards and the Con's might have to tell the truth for a change.
Best part is, The National Energy Policy Trudeau the First tried to implement, and about which Alberta still froths at the mouth,b included the pipelines to tidewater that Alberta really needs now.

Even Ed Stelmach would be run out UCP town on a rail these days, King Ralph would probably be allowed to stay though.

Klanberta is now the worst COVID hotspot in Canada. That's what happens when you have a provincial government more conserned with cutting doctors fees, nurses & teachers salaries and adding creationism to public school curriculums.

It's Canada's Red State. No way is it ever going to elect a Liberal government.

it must be weird to wake up hoping you get to go on Trumpian rants on any thread that has the word Alberta associated with it. Did we kick your dog or something?
