Over the last few years, I've purchased a few boxes of Mountain House freeze dried meals and stuck them in the closet in case we have a bad earthquake or other disaster (plus I can just grab a few out of storage for when I go camping). They store just as well as MREs, but they have the advantage of actually being edible.

I agree with Mountain House, just be sure to carry a bottle of Marie Sharp's hot sauce -- some of the meals are rather bland.

I've got my TP and paper towel castle in my basement.

Every week over the last 4-5 months when things got restocked, I would add 1 of each to my cart because this was going to happen. But you only go through a package every few weeks. So Ive built my castle.

fark MREs. I didn't even eat them when I was in except for boot camp. I only had to do a week in the woods each year and I lived off of pop tarts and beef jerky.

Had two large MRE containers (30 day supply) since 2016.  I forget why I bought them back then...

If you are really, seriously prepping for an emergency, taste is a back seat to staying fed and alive.

MREs seem to stop me up personally. But that's not a big deal when out hiking or camping.

A previous post about purchasing qualities of freeze dried food sounded cool. I find camping supplies like that are more tasty than MREs. The issue remains water and weight.

Thanks for the input, man.
