They're hoping he implodes on his own so they can begin revising history to say they never really supported him and worked behind the scenes to oppose his worst instincts and actions.

Why anger him and his cult members now?  They're sooooo close to being done with him.

Craven bastards.

The entire ethos of the GOP and Republicans in general is that you're ready to wet your pants at a moments notice.  They are scared shiatless of Trump.  Because they're cowards.

In 5-10 years Trump's Presidency will be like the Iraq War. A few cultists aside, no one will admit to ever having voted for him.

And if things were just going on as usual, I'd be more inclined to just say fark it, two more months of golf and he's gone. Problem is, he's accelerating his fire starting, and actively sabotaging any efforts of the next administration.

No way, this is just setting up the next election and escalation. They want the escalation that Trumps bring them.

The more Trump destoys, the more can be rebuilt in the Republican way. One party rule is the goal. Once that's achieved, they'll start exterminating anyone that gets in the way.

They know trump's reactionary behavior is to burn everything to the ground on his way out, and they are hoping that by placating his ego, they can direct most of the firestorm to the Democrats, and escape mostly intact.

We'll see how it works out. Personally I'm hoping for a very public split with mitch, leading to trump running off with 30% of the hardcore republican traitors.

The GOP as an organization of ideas and beliefs is dead   Trumpers killed it.  But there are a few office holders in the senate who still think they can perform CPR on the dead body even though it died four years ago when that gawdy awful "TRRRRUMP" graphic that announced Trump's speech at the convention was displayed for the world to see.

Go with the classic:

Narcissus was born in Thespiae in Boeotia, the son of Cephissus (the personification of the Boeotian river of the same name) and the nymph Liriope. His mother was warned one day by the seer Teiresias that her son would live a long life as long as 'he never knows himself.' As he reached his teenage years, the handsome youth never found anyone that could pull his heartstrings, indeed, he left in his wake a long trail of distressed and broken-hearted maidens, and one or two young men fell by the wayside too. Then, one day, he chanced to see his own reflection in a pool of water and, thus, discovered the ultimate in unrequited love and fell in love with himself. Naturally, this one-way relationship went nowhere, and Narcissus, unable to draw himself away from the pool, pined away in despair until he finally died of thirst and starvation. Immortality, at least of a kind, was assured, though, when his corpse (or in some versions the blood from his self-inflicted stab wound) turned into the flowers which, thereafter, bore his name.

It is a legitimate fear. With less than 20% deciding most elections, if trump tells his flock of q-tards not to vote for a specific candidate, they won't get elected. The Democrats really need to be stoking trump's antagonism toward republican leadership since they're not handing him the presidency.

Assuming they don't still find a way, of course.

I heard on a ratio talk show (Smerconish) today from a caller that there is fine print on those Trump campaign email blasts which says that donations made to the campaign goes to paying off the campaign's debt.  If this is true, maybe he's just running a long con to pay off the bills while he's got gullible supporters who are willing to pitch in before heading off into the sunset, scratching his ass.

It's that and saving face.  Even if the fraud suits go nowhere (they won't) the faithful can say it was the deep state, etc.

It's no different than claiming that a few Russians spent $1M on Facebook against your $100M and that caused you to lose.

Perhaps the one good thing that Trump has done is show everyone just how little true influence the Beltway GOP "intelligentsia" has ever had. The Bill Buckleys, Bill Kristols, and George Wills have only ever spoken for ~10% of the Republican Party, and they've never actually set policy. They just produced a thin veneer of intellectual justification for their party's greedy racist bullshiat policies so their higher-minded constituents could BS people at dinner parties and keep the conversations cordial.

The Justification Machine only wrote articles for Republican aides and op-ed columnists.

The Republican Party has been setting up a dynamic where every single election will now be subject to fraud allegations and a refusal to concede defeat.

It will become a litmus test for remaining in the party: close losses are ipso facto fraud. Wide losses are ipso facto fraud.

I don't mean the following to be alarmist, but we Dirty Farking Hippies have been saying this for years and now maybe some normies will listen: the single most important piece of having a representative democratic republic is that the losers accept the results and peacefully transfer power. The Republican Party is now declaring war on that principle, and for that alone they need to be dissolved.

Lets wait until after the Senate certifies the EC vote before we do this.  We don't need to Republican Senators to look at the certification as a Trump Loyalty Test.

It's clearly on the website asking for donations that his campaign gets 50% of the money contributed for legal aid.  Also, if you pledge under $8000, the money goes to his campaign and the RNC (not even to the legal fund).

I'm waiting for a Nixon-like "I am not a grifter" speech.

When me and my wife are sitting on the couch, and I fart and it's bad, and I know she's going to smell it, and I have that internal debate with myself asking whether I should tell her or not, that is being reluctant.

I believe the term we're looking for is COMPLICIT.  These traitorous motherfarkers are going along with the Trump chaos because if it works, they'll hang on to power.  It's always short-term with these scumbags, and right now they're hoping Trump pulls it off because it will benefit them in the long run, without thinking they're aiding their own irrelevance.

If Trump legitimately rapes his way into the Presidency again...what the fark do we need a Congress for?  A Republican party even?

Dotard is running out of options, and I think we are nearing the stage of this shiat where he will call upon his army of antisocial farkwads, the police, and the military itself to defend him by force.
