40 years to return "A Trip To The Moon?"

I can see that.  It's not so easy to part with and does have a pretty compelling moneyshot.

8mm from the library. My dad had some 8mm movies, none of which were 'checked out' from the 'library'

I'd love to have that film. I'd even buy a protector just to show it so I could enjoy listening to it feed and watch the flicker.

Creepy Lurker Guy: 8mm or Super-8?

Judging by the image in TFA, standard 8mm.

If the library no longer has use for it they should see what it's worth, try to get more money for it so they can expand their inventory add service hours or....
holding onto it seems like a waste.

It's probably not worth more than $25-50 at the most, maybe much less, and the number of man hours to list the item, package it, sell it, and process the check through a government bureaucracy makes it so it is probably not worth bothering.

I found out about "A Trip to the Moon" in that same time frame. I would have loved to have seen it. I imagine my library kept 8mm films, but I never thought to check. This book was amazing back then, and is still pretty cool. I'd bet Mr. 40-years-late had the same book.
