My cat makes that same squeaky noise, right before he yacks up a hairball.

I know this is real because I've seen cats like this at zoos purring in real life.  But every time I see a video of a big cat purring like a kitten I imagine a small tabby in a recording studio dubbing over the video.  Like dubbing a movie for a foreign audience.

My big boy cat is the same. He's tall and long and weighs 17 lbs without an ounce of fat. He stalks around the house like a king and delights in dominating the other cats. Then you say his name and he answers with the tiniest, most baby-like squeak. I say to him, "Hey, Mike Tyson, buddy, roar it up!" and he squeaks again or just opens his mouth and nothing comes out. One of the girl cats whom he likes to play-bite and bonk with his paw has a meow that can be heard into the center of town. I think she has some Siamese in her because she talks up a storm and VERY LOUDLY.

Yes, it is a lynx. My Coonie (not on steroids) makes a similar sound.
