FTA: "This is about as crowded as it was before COVID hit," said Ed Westerfield, who shot the video before boarding a flight to Puerto Vallarta.

If everyone else stayed home, I could go on vacation safely. You are putting ME at risk!

NotThatGuyAgain: Thanksgiving, where people gather from all cross the country, followed by Black Friday, where morans pack stores.

It reads like the beginning of The Stand.

If COVID knew what was about to happen in the macro world, it would have a raging boner and full-on blue balls awaiting for payoff by the end of the week.

High school dating taught me that blue balls don't go away, even if you try to manually relieve yourself. However, COVID is a bigger tease than any girl I spent time with in the back seat of my mom's Buick. COVID is a much bigger b*tch, very unpredictable and loves to see your pain.

RussianPotato: Most people have had their lives upturned in the past year.  Most people find comfort in family.  What the heck is wrong with you psychopaths?

Were you so worried about your family when you moved halfway across the country so you could make more money? When you put your kids in daycare? When you broke up with a great person because your jobs wouldn't match up, ever?

Oh but NOW family and friendship is the most important thing.

groppet: But I need to see my family because of freedom and stuff!

I have seen videos of grown adults whining about how disney isn't fully open yet  and how they need to go and hate sitting at home. I don't plan on doing shiat until I get the shot and if it isn't until next year so be it. I was planning on a road trip over the summer, turns out it wasn't in the cards, guess I'll wait for next summer.

Let's see: Friday nights are mw5 with a dedicated group of 4 of us.  Saturday is tabletop simulator with 6 to 10 people.  Sunday are viewing parties over zoom.  Tuesday is among us and beer.  Thursday is ad hoc night where everyone who is bored decides to do something as a group.

I'm nervous about riding my bike outside in the woods cause there's too many people and despite the forest being laaaarge, the trails are small and narrow and everyone is huffing and puffing cause bike riding

but that scene in the airport... am I even on the same planet
?

hissatsu: AmbassadorBooze: Just have the faa ground all flights.  Except for fighter jets.  To take out any rouge flights.  Have the military drop daisy cutters on the runways to disable all the airports.  Use bunker busters on the refueling stations.  Take out the infrastructure so the trump rebels cannot covid up this biatch.

You're going soft. You didn't even start with mass murder.

I don't want a time out.  Murder is wrong.  But having the government enforce a lockdown with lethal force isn't murder.  It is a police action.  It is health and human services exercising power.  But not murder.  Because murder and mass murder is wrong.

Now is not the time for comfort.  Now is the time to farking lock your ass down.  Asking people nicely to not spread bioweapon nano particles has failed.  Time for the governments to try ultra fear.  If people want to spread bioweapons, we need the military to spread hot lead conventional weapons.  Or atomic fusion weapons.  Whatever it takes to lock this mother farking country down.

I've been to two funerals this year, and called a number of people to offer condolences.
Funerals are bleak by nature, but just getting condolences by few people or via WhatsApp, is another level of hollowness.

Yeah, my dad died three months ago.  I couldn't see him in the hospital while he was still able to converse or even had awareness.  Because of corona rules.  We didnt even have a funeral.  Nobody cares about my suffering.  So why should others care about your suffering?  Lock your farking ass down and maybe, just maybe, we can have real funerals again.  But if you don't, get used to what's app.

mofa: Covid-19 won't go away because you found instances when someone acted irresponsibly.

Here's a sentence:
It's unwise to spread a deadly communicable disease.

Does anyone honestly disagree with that sentence?

What if your motivation is to spread death and chaos?

naughtyrev: God, I hate people. I have an operation scheduled 2 weeks after Thanksgiving, and I don't know if I'll be able to have it because of morons, and if I can have it, I'll be terrified the whole time because I'll be in a hospital filled with people who have Covid.

I'm terrified 'cause Mr. Clutchery has a surgery scheduled about that same time that he's waited for over six months to get scheduled...but it's in a shiat outpatient surgery center in Azusa that has no real waitspace to speak of and a really crap social distancing setup.

Mayor Daley was the hero we need:

mayor daley was the asshat that should have been taken to court and fined and held accountable for his illegal actions

Trying to decide if this is real without Google.

Who cares if it's real?  I want it to be real, and that's what matters - Trumpanzee logic.

Creoena: I want to be surprised after reading the article about how stupid people can be, but I'm not at this point.  I'm beyond the point where I'm caring about how stupid the masses are.  Based on what we're seeing leading up to Thanksgiving, you'll drive yourself insane wanting the masses to behave themselves.  All you can do is take care of yourself and your family. You care about your family - that's great.  Unless they live with you, the best way to take care of them is to not visit them and decrease the risk they get sick or die.

My town has doubled its corona cases in the last five days.  My county has increased its cases by a factor of 5 in just over two weeks.  I'm unapologetic about spending thanksgiving alone and stocking up on supplies (not extremely so - it doesn't take much to keep one person going for a while).  I have no interest in potentially getting the virus or infecting others with it.  I'm finding new indoor hobbies to keep myself occupied.  I've found many outdoor activities I can do solo.

Get a zoom account, keep your family safe, and keep yourself safe.

Taking care of yourself and your family is necessary but insufficient to keep yourself safe. That's why the covidiots are so maddening.

Sabreace22: My boss's wife contracted covid and he's now in quarantine. He was supposed to go to a conference in DC in December and now they're looking at me to go along with a super type a, extrovert co-worker who has literally been crawling up the walls of our office because he can't get enough social interaction. I will happily attend via Teams from the comfort of my own home, but there is nothing short of a direct order that will have me setting foot in an airport anytime soon.

If you're in the military, an order to risk your life would be lawful.  If you're a civilian, an order to risk your life would usually be unlawful, except if you're in the medical profession.  I'm sure Fark vets & lawyers could provide more nuance to this distinction, but to me, this seems cut & dried.

groppet: Ambitwistor: Skeleton Man: 198,537 new cases yesterday. Imagine how many people will be flying and visiting family that don't yet know they're sick and already contagious.

I was in a work meeting and someone was talking about her plans to fly to a wedding: she was going to wear a mask on the airplane and take her temperature before boarding. Her boss gently tried to explain that this isn't going to detect asymptomatic transmission beforehand, or prevent her spreading asymptomatically to her whole family, but she was determined.

At my job they said anyone that visits people outside their bubble or leaves he states had to quarantine for two weeks when they get back.

How will they determine if people have visited those outside their bubble or left the state?  People who do that will lie about it.

ansius: Christmas is going to be a terrible time in the US.

Mid-December for hospitalisations to truly hit after the Thanksgiving super spreader event.

Many areas are already hitting the limits of ICU beds.

It's going to be awful.

Good. Maybe then, when they have loved ones in crisis, when the hospitals are collapsing, maybe, maybe then they will learn that preventing the spread of this disease isn't a hoax or an assault on them.. Maybe.
