My second job is working in a retail pharmacy.  In the last two months the majority of our staff has quit because the company does dick to protect employees.  Maybe when people realize doctors, plumbers, and service workers are so tired of being at risk it starts to affect them things will change.  But probably not.

The biggest black swan that could fark us, with the insane number of people getting infected every single day around the world, 600 000+ per day, is that the more people get infected, the more chances it will mutate in a big way and fark us spanish flu style.

So far the virus doesnt have any ''pressure'' to mutate in a big way but with the vaccine coming, and the time it will take to vaccinate enough people + the immortal ''we wont take it, its my body, its my choice, vaccines are a conspiracy by bill gates'' morons + the fact that its a coronavirus that mutates quite fast (but still not even half the speed of influenza)...  chances are that the virus mutates and that the vaccines become worthless at some point to fark us one more time within 5 years.

The only good thing is that with the new mRNA vaccine tech from Moderna and Biontech it's likely we can respond to any mutations quickly and with enough capacity to produce 200M doses per month available by summer 2021 it's likely we can ring vaccinate any resurgence.

And, regardless, all of the pressure on covid is still -against- being deadly. Causing nasty enough symptoms to be deadly is an excellent way for a virus to cause its host to isolate (or be isolated) before spreading it.

Think of all the diseases that are endemically passed between humans, as opposed to to us from animals. With notable exceptions (smallpox), most of them are towards the "annoying" end of the scale, not the fatal one, or have an extremely long delay until fatality coontreated syphilis, HIV): the cold (any of 100+ viruses), most flus, mono, most STDs, measles.

It's things spread to us by parasites (fark mosquitos, so much) and wild animals that are horrible: lyme, plague, ebola, rabies, yellow fever, sleeping sickness...

Actually, the morning after my local authorities politely advised to avoid public transport, my bike commute had about 5 times the usual number of cyclists. We're about to head into the tightest restrictions available without a Law change, but the restrictions are just polite suggestions: there's a serious precedent for 'right to assembly' enshrined here, and our laws don't even give the right to the gov't to issue curfew orders, nor mandate mask usage, never mind issue fines to private citizens. The thing is that our public actually listens to the government advice really well, and we're lucky that the 5G brigade haven't gotten a foothold here.

We are just beginning our 2nd wave in Sweden. It's the wave that was predicted to begin in September, but waited till November to actually hit us. We seem to be reacting appropriately as a public so far.

BTW, about nobody knows about the other plague that hit the world right around the time of the spanish flu.

There was a pandemic of encephalitis lethargica between 1915-1926. It went worldwide. It wasnt spread by mosquitoes. Since it affected the brain, basically every patient had different symptoms. 5+ million people were farked over by this disease.

Scientists never figured out how it came about or why it disappeared as fast as it came.

I think by the end of the year (February at the latest) .... the Covid dashboards are going to be ugly. And the mortality rate due to overrun medical staff/beds will be ugly squared.

Just basing this comment on current trends and an overall lack of enforcing measures. If measures are really enforceable anyways. Here in Utah it's mostly "mandates" (with quotes) or in other words asking nicely. It's depressing to think about. Meanwhile dine-in and bars are open for business and schools are so far open unless temporarily shut for two weeks due to excessive cases (mine is currently shut until after Thanksgiving but that may be extended). I hope so anyways.

I actually had way more hope for the British public, but seeing the public packing pubs till the very moment new laws come into effect actually left me a bit dumbfounded.
