Well, you say "idiot", but it seems like the guy was working for cash under the counter, which is the situation for a lot of the working poor. Unfortunately, one of his colleagues was also working in hotel quarantine, which just shows that the South Australians learnt nothing from Victoria's harrowing and very public experience.
Anyway, when they asked the guy if he had any relation to the pizza shop cluster, he was said he bought a pizza from them, rather than admit that his employer wasn't withholding tax, leading the health authorities to think that they were dealing with a superstrain that could spread on contact with a pizza box, so they shut. down. everything.
Long story short, this is a case of insecure work aiding the spread of the virus.

Hey, at least their government did something.  If this were the US, they would have just said "uhm, wear a mask, pretty please?" and let the outbreak spread.  Hell, it would have only been a few raindrops in a deluge.

And then we would have executed the people asking us to wear a mask. Because freedom means no responsibilities.

Can't be Australian, toppings aren't on the bottom.

/And a cursory Google says that that's not an Australian pizza shop anyway.

Yeah it is quite common to work cash and dodge the PAYG, but then there are then the (serious) issues for the bloke involved is if his work is related to a student/tourist/bridging visa.

I'm not however 100% convinced arguing in this space is purely about rich vs poor if there is a international (visa) angle

(I'm not heartless on this topic, its just a lot more complicated than a few sentences can cover off)

I'm a little pissed that the media are going after to find out who the poor bloke is, and I'm not sure its relevant to the issue we have.....elephant here I know....

That said I'm glad we did shutdown based on the information they had, and while I didn't get all the time off to spend with my new little girl (I'm classed as essential) they handled it as best they could....

...tho not testing hotel workers sounds a bit silly...

Apparently, the bloke is on a temporary student visa. I think that means he's only legally allowed to work 20hrs a week?

I can't see how naming him in the media will do anything other than giving the Sky After Dark lineup someone else to demonise.

Australia pizza is like Chicago vs NY pizza to a St Louis pizza cracker crust lover. There are no winners in the game.

Well, that's why you don't let the French make your pizza.

(Reverse GIS has that as a pizza bar in Nice)

OK so I thought that the 20 year old joke on fark about confusing Austria and Australia was gone for good and then subbie surprises me.. and I laughed.

/Uncle Jimmy's fart jokes aren't funny but you eventually laugh at them because he never gives up
