"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

It happened to 2019. We figured that out, and we got 2020 for our effort.

There is a third theory that states the first two theories were conconted by a wiley editor of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in order to increase the amount of universal paranoia, and thus boost sales. This last theory is the most likely, as The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the only book to have "Don't Panic" written in large, friendly letters in its cover.
