Would it be too much to ask if some representatives from the Hague would be involved in the discussions as well?

Why would the Secret Service try to "protect" him from law enforcement? They're  on the federal payroll, not hired goons.

They wouldn't... though IIRC, Trump also brought in his personal security, and made the Secret Service coexist with them.

Yeah I doubt the Secret service will care.

Their job is to make sure Trump doesn't take a bullet. Him getting frogmarched into custody isn't exactly their concerned.

I think the appropriate question is, will they have to still guard him in prison?

2020-10-31 7:52:25 AM
I doubt that Trump will face any prosecution. He might be on the hook for financial crimes. But those will be settled with a few fines and he won't even have to admit wrongdoing.
The fun part is what happens when his loans are called in. Will he watch Trump Tower being foreclosed on? Will Mara Largo be ceded to the federal government to settle his tax bill? Or, will a mysterious foreign entity swoop in to hand him a billion dollar check? Like what happened to Jared Kushner.

I don't believe that.

The Secret Service is all about doing the mission. Having any third parties present doing anything similar to or parallel to the mission would compromise their ability to complete the mission.

I'd like to see your evidence, even if it's just rumor.

No mysterious foreign entity will come to his defence. Those sugar daddies expect something in return.

He won't have any political leverage any more, and won't have any business to launder money through.

If Trump gets charged, he will have to go to trial or face jail time.  When prosecutors go after someone this high profile, they don't get off easy. Could take a long time, and Trump could actually die before seeing the inside of a jail.  But if they bring charges, and that's a BIG if, he's not being let off with a slap on the wrist.

The loans are probably a non-issue. With one possible exception (a loan on a golf course) it looks like all of Trump's loans have sufficient collateral and so would normally be refinanced.  Even with his toxic name, these properties are valuable enough that he could get credit.

"
XMark, a firm that features pictures of private guards surrounding Mr. Trumpon its website, received $164,121,50 from the Trump campaign between Oct. 20 and the end of November. The spending was up from the first three weeks of October, when the campaign paid the firm $29,506.
XMark is one of several private security firms on which the Trump campaign continued spending money after the president-elect was granted Secret Service protection."

I am not sure the Secret Service does much for former Presidents other than keeping people from assassinating them. If SDNY shows up, Secret Service would just catch a ride with them. I could be wrong since most ex-POTUS don't drive, but Dotard never drove anyway. Either way, I still think they have minimal influence on their lives or decisions or anything other than keeping them from getting killed.

You think they're gonna risk their life and liberty for this little turd either?

Trump going to jail is the left's version of Obama's birth certificate it's something to cling onto and give you hope while you sit through four years of someone in office you don't like. I can't imagine Trump ever doing time for anything and Biden doesn't seem like the kind of vindictive guy to go after him. Trump will park his orange ass on the couch and live out his days ranting into the Twitter void and making frequent appearances on whatever tv shows will have him.

But then, from the other direction on the tarmac, comes a smaller number of gold government Suburbans. Perhaps with New York plates. Inside: Agents from the Justice Department's Southern District of New York.

They wouldn't drive down I-95. And they wouldn't load up their vehicles in a C-141. They'd get the local FBI Field Office to meet them and cart them around. And the FBI Special Agent in Charge would call the Secret Service and work things out before hand.

If they were going to motorcade to any place other than Mar-A-Largo, the local PD would need to know, because their whole intersection control plan just changed. So, *if* something like this was remotely plausible, Trump would roll up to Mar-A-Largo and find the FBI and SDNY awaiting his arrival.

Oh, it WILL happen this time. This isn't some piddly little hotel office break-in thing. We're talking about major acts of graft combined with intentional decisions that has resulted in the deaths of HUNDREDS of thousands of men, women, and children. This is sh*t that will not flush!

Luckily, the Russian involvement in the past elections have been a military involvement.  I'm sure the Russian equivalent of Seal Teams can perform a delicate extraction of a friendly live target if they wanted to and keep him alive.

I'm not the superstitious type, but buying a foreclosed Trump property is like building a suburb over a razed cemetery or Indian burial site.  Cursed Earth.

For the millionth time, the secret service is not a praetorian guard. They will not fight other federal agents or police that come for Trump, they will not form a barricade in the oval office, they will not shoot to kill someone enforcing a subpoena.

Personally, I don't think he'll leave the White House in January. I think he heads to Florida with Thanksgiving or Christmas as the excuse and never goes back.

and I should add, they might even let his overseas travels. Because he knows still classified information, they cannot risk him falling into the hands of another state whothat could compromise him and gain those secrets. His backup plan of becoming a permanent resident of Trump Tower Riyadh/Moscow/Vladivostok Antarctic Research Station is probably already DOA.
