Now, everyone here has already or will almost certainly vote, and are sick of being told to anyway.

If so, do the harder thing: convince someone else to vote. Not just on whatever social media feed you use, talk to someone, politely, in person, bring it up in conversations, try not to cajole or nag too much, but convince someone else to vote. This is important, and the more people working together, the easier this will be.

I need to read up on how out of state lobbyists can get regressive ballot measures con California. In New York, they're pretty innocuous like, "Do you approve of a $3.00 tax rider for state environmental cleanup?" not, "Vote yes if you think gay monsters getting married is bad and ungodly!"

Anyway, Community holds up really well. Fans might knock them, but I even like the last two seasons. Did they ever explain what happened to Hickey? It just seemed like one episode he was there, then suddenly Keith David.

One thing I like about Community is that I enjoy all six seasons, but there's very clear differences in tone over the course of it.
Season 1: Well-written, but pretty standard sitcom
Seasons 2-3: Experimental concept episodes in regularity
Season 4: Gas-leak year.  The writing was slightly off without Harmon, and a lot more time spent off-campus.
Season 5: Soft reboot with cast change and Jeff as a teacher
Season 6: Longer runtime, so pacing was a bit off.  Another cast change.  More after-hours stuff.  Felt like Community Nights.

I loved every season of Community. While the overarching season of the gas leak year was lower quality than the other seasons, it still had some good episodes like the German Invasion or the Sadie Hawkins dance. Its dip in quality was some obvious pandering to Chevy Chase (making Pierce a nicer guy) and the fact that they had to shoot around Chevy's absences. But I loved the next two seasons as Hickey and Elroy were great additions to the cast.

The Sophie B Hawkins dance is one of my favorite episodes of the series.  The gas leak year definitely had some decent episodes.

The absolute worst part of the series to me was the Chang Dynasty two-parter, and that was all Harmon.

When you learn how many other great actors were considered for the part of Peirce, like Fred Willard, you really start to resent Chevy and his weird ego/bad work ethic.

Pierce was an unrepentant asshole so Chevy Chase was just playing himself. Fred Willard seemed like a genuinely nice guy who played clueless yet well-meaning dad figures. I'm not sure the latter would have worked in Community.

I think out-of-touch unintentionally bigoted old person could have worked just as well as out-of-touch deliberately mean-spirited bigoted old person.

It would have been a different character, sure, but I think it would have worked well.

It would have been a better character to be honest. You could see, especially in the early seasons, that they were trying to make Pierce unintentionally insensitive but being willing to change. But having Chase play him made change impossible. Instead he had to be over the top, more overtly bigoted and the center of attention. I  used to like a lot of Chevy Chase's comedy but I started to notice that a lot of his comedy was being a mean spirited "cool guy." That kind of stuff worked in smaller doses in some films like Caddy Shack or Fletch, but it doesn't work when we are spending significant amounts of time with him on a weekly show, especially when comparing him to other characters.

It didn't help that Chevy Chase was maybe difficult to work with (I am not talking about his differences with Dan Harmon, I am talking about his rudeness to Donald Glover and other cast members). A different actor early in the show might have worked better, allowing the character to be different. Of course, the show might not have worked as well as it did either, maybe not even getting six seasons (and a movie?).
