Its a numbers game to them.

When fewer people vote, the GOP almost always wins.

When more people vote, the Democrats almost always win.

This is normally true, which is why they are all about suppressing as many votes as then can, even if they votes were for them, and have been for decades, but this time around with wild record early voting numbers, and Democrats almost universally voting earlier, their normal plays may not work the way they want.

Looking at the states, Florida expects to have results on election night.  So Trump could be declared the loser on election night (he can't win without Florida), but there's no way he can be declared winner without extreme shenanigans (worse than 2000, 2004, and 2016 combined).

All of this is so Trump can declare himself winner on Election night. Hope Biden has attorneys ready to deploy and briefs prepared, because you can be damn sure Trump is going to sue to have the counting stopped at midnight.

Barring that, he's going to declare massive election fraud, and ask the Republican state legislatures to give him their electors, regardless of the popular vote.

If either of those don't work, he's going to ask the SCOTUS to declare him the winner, i.e. Bush v Gore 2.0.

If Trump loses (and it's looking more and more that way), he's going to burn it all down rather than concede. His narcissism will never allow himself to admit he lost, and his sociopathy means he doesn't care who he hurts on his way down.

The tally is signed and then the ballots plus the tallies go into a locked bag and driven to a drop off location with both the D and R reps in the same car.

If the count of ballots filled out plus the errors do not match the total distributed using a bar code scanner on the registration device which counts the total # of voters you have to start all over again and recount until you get the correct number. These tallies on the printout sheet are used to add to the total in the county and this is reported to the media and on the site etc. I am guessing that absentee ballots follow the same process. Not sure how this can be an issue and is one thing Ohio got right the past few years concerning elections. This is at least how it is done in Hamilton County. I was a poll worker last year but unable to do it this year.

It's not that way in all of Ohio.

Diebold touchscreen machines where I'm at.  Unreliable calibration, and then they print onto a thermal ribbon tape that's locked in the voting machines with a little window you can look into to see how it's recorded.  The paper copy is only used in recounts, if any.

They don't seem the least bit secure or confidence inspiring to me.

Unless they upgraded very recently.  I dropped my absentee ballot in the box late at night this time.

Greene County, OH uses ES&S (formerly Diebold) voting machines.

The thing prints a paper ballot behind a clear plastic shield you can look at to confirm it matches what you marked on the screen, on a roll of paper like a CVS receipt. When you're done, it scrolls up never to be seen again. You don't get a receipt, verification code, or whatever.

I assume the computer checks if you voted Democrat and generates a random number. If your ballot fails its saving throw, it gets shredded.

After some irregularities in the 2018 election, my Ohio county has switch backed to paper ballots.  We don't use electronic machines anymore.

Also, when I voted early in-person my vote was immediately scanned and counted when I slipped it into the machine.

Tylerjoelb: Reminder that Ohio has a *10-day* period after Election Day for counting eligible ballots so long as they are postmarked by Nov. 2 We have to keep spelling this out: states *do not* certify results on election night. Ohio's official count comes weeks later. https://t.co/u2noqi80Ww

Why does he* say is it bad for our country?
I guess I'd be pooping bricks too if I had a bad feeling I'll be losing and owing $400 million dollars to the newspaper boy that will be knocking on my door to collect.

Last I heard it's up to over $800 million he owes.

What if he says next Wednesday "Hey, I lost, OK.  But I'm not leaving gracefully and I'm gonna fark everything up for the next 11 weeks... unless somebody crowdsources me a billion dollars.  The sooner you come up with my money, the faster I'll leave."

I bet we could knock that out by Thursday morning and he could be gone by dinner.

I can't remember any time in my lifetime that all the states have actually certified a winner on election night. I know sometimes the press will call/predict a race by midnight, but (any historians here), has it ever happened that all states had finished counting by midnight on voting day?

Pants full of macaroni!!: UltimaCS: BlazeTrailer: So you wish to give early voters a disproportionate voice in the process? Man, you really DON'T wish to be president, do you?

Nobody has ever said he was a smart man. Except himself.

That is a lie.  All of his worshippers fervently believe that he is the smartest person in all of history.

Well he really does know his shiat.

The problem is he spews entirely too much of it. He surrounds himself and us in it. He forces us to consume it. We always have to smell his shiat.

But he definitely knows it.

Pants full of macaroni!!: Donnie is going to ORDER all states to stop counting votes at 9pm on election night so that he can claim Permanent Victory.

No, he'll order an immediate recount. At that point it'll be pretty much all early votes being counted and he'll be getting utterly shellacked.
