There's a lot of things about this election that have been done this way for years that he's trying to convince people have never happened before.  They're going to do anything they can to win this election, even if it is by (continuing to) lie to the American people.

2020-10-30 11:54:56 AM
It's amazing. Youd' think he would want all the votes from shy Trump voters to count.

2020-10-30 11:55:47 AM
Look. There will be a 30 second window of voting. It will not be announced. It will begin when Donald Trump casts his vote and end the moment after he casts his vote.

All legitimately received votes will be counted fairly and correctly.

2020-10-30 12:03:26 PM
Notice how any decisions to allow more ways to vote, count votes, extending registration deadlines are all clearly meant to apply across the board. Whether you are a Dem, a Trumpanzee, Independent or one of those morons throwing away your vote on a third party, these rules are meant to get you the same right to vote and your vote counted.

Isn't it funny how only one party has a problem with voting?

2020-10-30 12:06:38 PM
Trump promoting the fact that vote counting "ends" when talking heads on the TV first say that a race is "won" is peak "Trump speak".

I mean, if that was the case, Gore won Florida and the entire 2000s is fake!!!!

For the record, the election has never ended on November 3.

November 3rd is not a fixed election date Subby. It's the first Tuesday in November that follows the first Monday in October. So, it can be anywhere from Nov. 2nd to Nov. 8th.

They did not declare him winner in Arizona back in 2016 until 3 days after the election. He did not have a problem with it then.

He can fark right off.

Being post marked by election day is probably the most democratic solution i ever heard of. We need more of that.

It's saying a lot but this is one of the corrosive things I think Trump has said.  Elections aren't over until the votes are counted and it has been that way for over a thousand years.

We are going to have hick riots when at 12:01 metro areas are still working through the count.  Like they do EVERY ELECTION.  Trump can manipulate hicks with appeals to ignorance like Yo-Yo Ma can manipulate a cello.

Yes.

Can you imagine what will happen during that nine day period.

You'll do something racist and illegal again?

Then pay enough to make vote counting a desirable job.

2020-10-30 12:36:49 PM
People fought and died in wars for the right to vote.

Deny the right to vote to the people and it's a declaration of war against them, and that's one of the rights the 2nd amendment was actually made for.

fark with it at your own peril.

Keep in mind Trump's base are the same people who suddenly decided that wearing a mask chokes you to death despite masks being in common use for their entire lives.

I thought it didn't count until the Electoral College delegates actually cast their votes?  Remember how in 2016 we hung on that little bit of hope that a few extra delegates would vote for that uninspiring buttery males lady?

They know the results are whatever the president says they are, and if all else fails the president is already publicly stating the Supreme Court HAS to find that he won the election this coming Tuesday because Roberts et al have to ask themselves if they would rather have nominees picked by him or Trump joining the bench and they owe him this.

Is it worth pointing out that the election does end on November 3rd, not just in NC but in every US State and territory?  Any ballot postmarked on, say, November 4th, is going to be invalidated.

Technically Trump is talking about each individual election of EC electors.

He isn't smart enough to know that but that is what he is doing.

2020-10-30 12:42:22 PM
Just gives Hillary and Hunter Biden the time they need to Xerox millions of ballots and have illegals from George Soros' secret country send in absentee ballots to mysterious, unknown post offices where liberal judges will insist each ballot counts twice!

All guns will be seized
The MAC addresses of conservatives will direct Obama Enforcers to where they are.  They'll be rounded up and sent to FEMA camps where they'll be processed in to Soylent Red for Chinese peasants
Every poor family will get a refrigerator making that number 100%

"The state of Vermont has not changed their voting rules, requiring the Secretary of State to certify a winner at 8:00:01 PM on election day, therefore all other states must follow suit"

Which isn't the issue. The GOP is trying to keep ballots postmarked Nov. 3rd from being counted if they arrive a few days later. Also they slowed the postal service so ballots arrive a few days later.

eKonk: Is it worth pointing out that the election does end on November 3rd, not just in NC but in every US State and territory?  Any ballot postmarked on, say, November 4th, is going to be invalidated.

Not really. These chucklefarks want to invalidate all ballots that are received after the 3d, no matter when they're postmarked.

This is a result of people failing to get a decent Civics class. The election has never ended on election, doubly so for a Presidential election.

First off, military votes are normally counted (as long as there is a valid postmark) up to a week (or sometimes longer!) after election day. Well, until this election because the Rethuglican Party hates the military and is demanding all absentee votes (even those with a valid postmark on or before) that arrive after election day are made invalid in several states.

Second, most states are counting through the night and into the next day. Then they need to double check vote counts. This usually takes a few days as well.

Third, the results need to certified by the proper people in the state. This also takes time.

Steps one through three take so long sometimes that they don't even typically have a certified result until late November or early December. Hence that's why:

Fourth, for Presidential elections the Electoral College meets in December to cast their ballots. Technically speaking, in many states, the electors are obliged to vote for the winner of the popular vote but there are no penalties if they choose to vote for someone else. There are some states now that have penalties for "faithless electors" but many still do not have any.

Fifth, and most importantly, counting all that paper takes time. The more people there are, the longer it takes. We're faster today, thanks to machinery, than ever before but it still takes weeks to accurately count any major election in any given state.

Trump is a moron and his followers are uneducated morons if they believe one word of his "Election night results are what count!" tweets. Of course we knew they were morons already or they wouldn't vote for Trump.

He brings out the worst in me, because at this point I honestly just hope he has a stroke while on stage at a rally and spends the next 15 years drooling in a wheelchair, aware enough to know what happened to him but incapable of doing anything else but taking spoonfuls of pudding from a nurse.

Not even being hyperbolic.

I hope for that.

I hope for it because it's honestly the only real justice he will ever see. He might destroy our institutions and steal the election. There is a real danger of that, and no one is holding him accountable. Even if he loses, he's going to sow chaos and hate and violence, and he'll campaign continuously for 2024 starting Jan. 21. The idea that New York State will take him down and he'll go to prison is a pure pipe dream. And on and on and on and on.

He will never have to face the consequences of who he is and what he's done.

So let him go on stage, bust a vein, and spend his remaining years eating pudding. It's about the most realistic chance we have of the universe making things right.

And yes, I am ashamed to think that way. It makes me uncomfortable. It's not the kind of person I want to be. I don't like feeling that way and am not proud of it.

But I'd be dishonest if I denied it.

2020-10-30 12:50:34 PM
There are now a minimum of 3 votes on the Supreme Court who would vote to end the vote count whenever Trump says it should end, absolutely regardless of precedent, history, logic or basic common sense.  Two more are questionable.

Those two votes are the only ones that really matter.

Washington's deadline isn't really election day. We're an all vote-by-mail state and the rule is that all ballots must be postmarked by election day. We never have a complete count for at least a few days.
