I think smart fabrics should find more use in helping machines recognize and interact with their environment.

No Skynet. Dirtnet.  Dirtnet wrapping its light, soft, fabricy skin around your body, around your neck as you sleep.

Until it can recognize specific humans and chide them for eating too much I'll stick with my smart placemats.
