Trump held a campaign rally on White House grounds. He doesn't give a Fark about laws because ultimately, who's going to enforce them against the President? His party? Ha! They worship him.

We are at a Very dangerous time in American history, and it's because the Republicans place party over country.

Oh crap, they played Fortunate Son again, right after Billie Jean. John Fogerty's gonna be pissed.

Does he fly around in that helicopter a lot more than other Presidents, or is it just me?

Doesn't even nudge my GAF meter.

I expect it by now.

I am convinced that the A/V people for these rallies are anti-Trump.

There's nothing stopping Biden from doing the same thing. I believe Biden is also allowed free use of the two Air Force One planes to fly him to multiple rallies each day

Biden looked pretty spritely going down those steps. He even broke into a short jog there.

Never mind the fact that it's completely unacceptable and unethical behavior for a President to be using taxpayer resources to endlessly campaign for office, they did it "in accordance with U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps regulations."

Yeah f*ck you too.

Fair enough meatheads.  Which regulations?  Cite them.  Or are you making shiat up for someone who probably won't go look?

He said he fast lined it right to the podium but the fake news won't let them show that.

In August, 1974 Republicans chose Country over Nixon (and Nixon resigned rather than Impeachment and Removal).  By 1976 and the Carter administration they got over it.  So yes, the last 44 years have been a "dangerous time in American History".

They go for a sound bite of a song instead of the song's meaning. It's dumb.

Seriously, this video really isn't showing what it looks like. By its nature, zooming in compresses distance, not only making things look closer than they are, but also things in the picture look closer together. In other words, zoom in enough, and a 50 yard difference between the edge of the crowd and the landing zone looks like 30 feet. If it was landing as close to the crowd as it appears to be, those people wouldn't just be standing there waving like idiots, they'd be running for cover.

And there are tons of regs, both military and civilian, that would keep them from landing near the crowd.

This is just an optical illusion from using a zoom lens.

Fortunate Son was definitely an interesting choice for them to play over that video. I mean, that song is sort of indirectly about Donald Trump, our people just like him.

Just maybe not the way they want to think it is?

It's not Air Force One when someone else is flying on it. AF 1 is the designation for the airplane that the president is on.

And "Billie Jean" is about a man denying paternity. I think they know what they're doing.

I am unclear as to what they feel they achieve playing You Can't Always Get What You Want at his klan rallies.

While you are probably right, this didn't force the Trump campaign to include the footage as part of their their campaign material.

This is the correct answer. And being under a helicopter at the apparent height in the video would not be a pleasant experience. Even if Fortunate Son is playing.

He can't walk further than 10 feet and airplane runways are cumbersome and long.

The believers (along with the narcisstic cult leader) are getting exactly what they really need. Even if it's not what they say they want.

It's part of the authoritarian playbook.

Look, your life sucks, right? Right. So? That's OKAY. As long as you're with the in-group.

The Lord works in mysterious ways. Allah wills it. Karma's a biatch. The (((globalist))) (((elites))). Or whoever the fark else in whatever out-group (Alexandria Ocantpronounceher doesn't like OIL in Oklahoma, and that Eel-hahn who's a you know what religion) or any other out-group that you might be scared of.

So. You can't always get what you want. It's not your fault, it's their fault. Not that I'm going to make your life any better. (If I told you I was, you'd suspect I was lying, and you'd be right. So I'm not going to make your life better. I might, but even if I don't, at least I'm not one of them.)

You can't always get what you want. Your life sucks balls, and it is going to continue to suck balls no matter who wins the election.

But if you try sometimes (by voting for me or subsuming your identity into my personality cult) , yes, your life will continue to suck balls but that will be okay because at least you'll be part of an in-group, which, for an authoritarian follower, is the part where "you'll get what you need."

The terrorist breaking into the cockpit in 2001, the ISIS goon strapping on a suicide vest, the molotov-lobbing black bloc kids, and the federal-agent-shooting boog bois - their lives suck. They knew they'd never get what they wanted. But someone they saw as a leader sure as hell made sure they got what they needed

And this should be noted - if it was hovering over the crowd, people's hair and hats, etc. would be flying all around.

Most of us haven't gotten what we want since he's been in office. The 1% tried, and got what they "need."
(I should have changed need to greed.)

Yeah, they saw that it looked dramatic and went with it. It's smart campaigning, nothing more. Hell, we're giving this story legs, we should really just let it die here.

I think the more important point is that Trump seeks to use the majesty of the office without ever once acting in a manner that creates the majesty of the office.
