(Politico)   In 2017 when the GOP was trying to get their Tax bill passed it seemed Senator Collins had the leverage to get her crackdown on "private equity" firms passed. At the last minute she backed down. Now they are showing their $incere appreciation   (politico.com) divider line

Polls are showing Collins will lose, but it's a tight race.

The Kavanaugh nonsense torpedoed her support with women.

Weird.  Senator Collins had a somewhat more moderate position and collapsed at the last minute to toe to conservative line to take care of herself rather than her constituency?  That is so unlike her.

She will learn a lesson .

stoli n coke: The Kavanaugh nonsense torpedoed her support with women.

And her continual "strong stance" of frowns of disapproval has killed it with any other than those who'd vote for a pile a shiat as long as it has an R beside the name.

They all got paid off.  Remember, Trump was widely criticized by Republicans in Congress until late in the year. Then the tax bill took shape and suddenly they were all photographed with him, and they've been good little soldiers ever since.

Because they're all whores.

All the republicans in purple states need to lose. All of em.

we can afford to make political contributions up the wazoo, but if we have to pay more tax, well, we'll die.

She looks very concerned in accompanying photo.

So very concerned.

She's married to a lobbyist. That's the real money coming into her household, not her senate salary. She needs to stay in good terms with her colleagues so that her husband can continue to enjoy access.

A Schwarzman spokeswoman said in a statement, "Steve has long supported Senator Collins because of her independence, hard work and integrity. He does not closely follow all of her specific policy positions."

LOL

Why does she want this power? What is she accomplishing with it? All I ever read about her is a mountain of stories about defending the bad decisions of other people.  I just don't see what she is doing with her position. She could change the world, but is she just squandering her life?

Why do any of these people spend millions of dollars trying to get a job that probably pays a couple hundred $K a year at most?

Because with the power comes money and other goodies from wealthy parasites. Never mind that there are certain types of people who just get off on having power and abusing it; some become serial killers, some become cops, others become Republican Congresspeople.

There is no such thing as a moderate Republican.

What a waste of a global empire. :( I hope she has a hobby I never heard about, like funding amazing art museums in her district, or making her state some kind of haven for reclusive novelists...or obscure biology research like worms and lichens...you know, so she isn't a complete asshole, but has some creativity as a side dish to her evil.

The only "good" thing she's done as a Senator is provide what was supposed to be a McConnell approved show vote to preserve the ACA because everyone expected McCain to be a Yes and the bill to die with 50 +Pence breaking the tie.

She accidentally did something decent once and is a Trump robot in all other instances. You can always count on her when it doesn't matter.

I'm sure she'll come out with a book eventually saying that she doesn't want to be remembered for her bad decisions, just like Sandra Day O'Conner did with her book saying she didn't want to be remembered for her vote on Bush v. Gore.

I think for Collins its all about the moneys. For some people selling their soul for money is a fair trade.
