Fark it being a robocall. Make them manually dial it AND personally be on the phone with each and every person.

A corrective call is a bad idea.  You can't unring the bell.  Incarcerate them for one election cycle instead.

If there's any law that should have mandatory minimum sentences, it should be voter fraud and intimidation.

You want to make it perfectly clear to would-be voter intimidators that they will go to motherf*cking prison for it.

Yeah.. please tell me they're serving prison time and won't just get a slap on the wrist.

Yeeeaah... hey everyone who was victimized by a robocall, have a robocall in compensation.

Seems... not ideal?

/100% support personal apology calls.

According to officials, the new robocall must be made by 5 p.m. Thursday and must contain the following message:

I'm hoping they do something dumber and add something to the message, and it pisses the judge off even more. Like "Liberal judges are trying to legislate from the bench. Project 1544 has been required by law to provide the following deceptions to people we reached for the Truth: ... Vote against censorship, vote Trump.".

The only thing lighter than this would be sending everyone a coupon for a free robocall instead.

Is encouraging them to practice their spam-calling skills a good idea?  Hire a contractor and bill the criminals.

So for the crime of using robocalls to spread lies Wohl & pal have to make "curative" robocalls telling the truth?

okaywiththis.jpg

What do they say?

fta: ""At the direction of a United States district court, this call is intended to inform you that a federal court has found that the message you previously received regarding mail-in voting from Project 1599, a political organization founded by Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl, contained false information that has had the effect of intimidating voters, and thus interfering with the upcoming presidential election, in violation of federal voting-rights laws."

Well, that's nice.

The only way to fight lies is with truths.

Potential felony charges And these guys will get off with some half assed corrective call.

2020-10-29 3:42:53 PM
"Defendants intentionally reached into the homes of voters and raised the specter of arrest, financial distress, infirmity, and compulsory medical procedures. Not only did Defendants incite fears of these grim consequences, but they baselessly tied the prospects to mail-in voting. The result cannot be described as anything but deliberate interference with voters' rights to cast their ballots in any legal manner they choose."

Trump does all those things at his rallies, just not by phone.

Punishing people who make unsolicited robocalls by making them re-call all of their victims seems a lot like punishing a student for skipping school by suspending them.

"No, no!  Please don't throw me in the briar patch!"

They're still going to trial:

The case against Burkman and Wohl in Michigan is currently pending in the 36th District Court. Officials say their preliminary exam is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29.

The judge just told them to do this in advance. Though I'll be honest, I'm not sure if that wouldn't prejudice a jury against them, if the judge told them to fix something without them being found guilty first.

That's encouraging, I guess I just don't see the point in this. It's like putting the horse back in the barn. It's already gone, man.

The case isn't over yet.

This is merely a corrective action that the judge issued while continuing the rest of the proceedings.

And when you add to that the Wohl/Burkman stupidity of representing themselves at a recent civil deposition, where they were very much themselves (i.e., stupid a fark), the odds are very good that they're going to have quite a few more punishments coming their way.

Except the jury may not necessarily be told about this corrective action.  They may not have to be; it's not material to their earlier actions, in regards to guilt or innocence.

Perhaps it comes up at sentencing, but that should be it.

There are three court actions taking place due to these robocalls.

1) Civil lawsuit filed in federal court in NY - This is the case where they stupidly represented themselves.

2) Michigan criminal prosecution - jail time is a real possibility

3) Ohio criminal prosecution - jail time is a real possibility

The order in this article comes from #1.

For Detroit, the calls specifically targeted residents -- nearly 12,000 -- with a 313 area code in August.

White privilege in action: "creative" sentencing that does not include actual incarceration. I'd say, throw them into solitary and forget about them for about three months. By then, the rotting flesh would be noticeable for the cleaning crew to do something about it.

Came here to say this as well. The only problem is that they couldn't get all of the calls made before the election. But I still thi k that it would be the actual best move. Kinda like Steve Martin having to physically write and sign each and every check at the end of The Jerk.

Ok, so for the people on this thread who haven't had it sink in yet:

This isn't the final judgement.  This is an intermediary step taken to ensure that bad acts that have already occurred can have some rectification.  It does not mean that they will not face further sanction as the civil case goes on.

Make them call (manually on a rotary phone for added punishment) AND incarcerate their asses.

Also, what mithras_angel said.

Their case is still pending, this is a court order to try to unfark what they've farked up. This judge seems pretty good, he didn't have to do this. I think these butt-muffins have a pretty good shot at prison.
