I'm thinking a year to another year and a half.

Cheers

In another article, Fauci said that they would be happy if the vaccine was 50% effective.

There is really a good article at Forbes

They could give the vaccine to millions of people. It could be as much as a coin flip as to if it helps them or not.

All in all, I hate to agree with Bill Maher, but he just did an interview and was spot on. Everyone needs to work on getting in better shape:

Covid is now a permanent fixture, and it will remain with us until it takes us all.

Fauci also said there was no reason to wear masks. Then later he said he only said they because PPE shortages.

He might be smart, he might be pragmatic, but he is not trustworthy.

Can't run on the honor system with masks; just as escorting drunk drivers home 40 years ago didn't do anything to cut down on the highway death rate, coddling non-maskers isn't going to get us anywhere but falling backwards

Biden--if he get's in praise Jebus--and congress--if we flip the Senate--will need to make a Federal law and enforce it, which means punishing State authorities who don't enforce it. And they'll have to block their ears for all the waling and gnashing of teeth and they'll have to fight it out  in court.

If it even takes away 50% of hosts, we win. Take every American state's current covid R_eff and cut it in half... game over.

Pants full of macaroni!!: Covid is now a permanent fixture, and it will remain with us until it takes us all.

Or 3% of us

Probably even less.

There is some evidence that if you die, and you're positive for COVID-19, that's counted in the COVID-19 deaths even if the cause of death isn't COVID-19 related.

https://cbs12.com/news/local/man-who-died-in-motorcycle-crash-counted-as-covid-19-death-in-florida-report

The flip side of that is that there are excess deaths caused by COVID-19.   If a cancer surgery was put off for 6 months because of COVID-19 related restrictions on medical procedures, and that person dies of cancer but never contracted COVID-19, then it's "related" but wouldn't be counted as a COVID-19 death.

So when I hear "X number of people died of COVID-19", I'm relatively skeptical that's a good number for the US.

And of course it's almost certainly not accurate world-wide.   After all, we know that the People's Republic of [CENSORED], where COVID-19 originated in the [CENSORED] markets of [CENSORED] City, [CENSORED] Province, has reported such low numbers of deaths as to simply not be credible at all.

Even in nations that aren't objectively evil totalitarian states like the People's Republic of [CENSORED] may still have issues with counting cases and deaths, either intentionally or unintentionally.
