(Bemidji Pioneer)   The battle over Minnesota's 2nd Congressional district is a twisted web of intrigue as it turns out the Pot Party candidate who died and threw the election schedule into the courts was originally hired by the GOP to pull Democrat votes   (bemidjipioneer.com) divider line

The GOP really likes those third-party candidates, so much so that they'll totes support a lefty if it screws over their main competitor.

We don't have a multi-party system, and if we want to go Parliamentary, we can if enough of y'all get together to agree to it, but as written, the two-party system is gonna be here for a while longer yet.

I guess he did what he was hired to do.

/are you sure he's dead? Might be faking it

I'm excited about Maine's ranked choice system to see if that supports third party candidates once people get used to it.

Theoretically a lot of blame for our two party system has to do with us being stuck in a rut with first-past-the-post voting.

Robert Mueller showed that when he proved that Russia supported Bernie before the primary in order to pull votes from Hillary

According to republicans this is clear evidence that donald trump had him murdered to cover up the plot. Also, if they're to be believed, donnie likely has a kill list a mile long.

Pro pot guy dies of fent?
Moron.
The fact that the GOP did this 6 months ago just shows how much thought and effort goes into their attempts to rig elections.

It's amazing how unnoticed that went isn't it? I really liked bernie but this news is what immediately turned me away. I can't stand Hillary, but you can bet your sweet bippy I voted for her.

It didn't go unnoticed, but it's also a lie by omission. Russia funneled money to literally every candidate that wasn't Hillary. That's not so much damning evidence against Bernie as it speaks of just how much Putin didn't like Hillary and didn't care who won so long as it wasn't her.

Which was an incredibly stupid idea in the first place since we would have had legal marijuana a year or two ago except the Republican controlled state senate was blocking it.

It's been decriminalized here since the 80's, with possession of less than 42.5 grams (an ounce and a half) resulting in a whopping $200 fine and no jail time.

As I've told people for more than 30 years when they get all afluttery about it being illegal...

"No one is busting down my door for a $200 fine."

Remember how I said, frickin today, that Republicans do this shiat all the time? And that nobody needs to feel bad for the poor Republicans getting a little taste of their own farking medicine and anyone crying insincere tears any time Democrats actually punch back?

Hell, I wasn't giving them enough near enough evil credit.

They didn't just point out that a conservative hadn't actually dropped off the ticket, like Harrison and the Lincoln Project did.
They didn't just fund a candidate like the GOP often does with the Green Party.
They created a whole new candidate out of thin air.

So fark them.

The democrats need to get the FBI to investigate Jo Jorgansen and the military needs to take her into custody until the investigation is done.  She is for the legalization of all drugs, and that might siphon votes away from the Dems.  If she has any ties at all to the Republicans, the military needs to gitmo her for life.  With waterboarding for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and nutriloaf for dessert.

In a normal election year, the rule of thumb should be to vote for people you know, regardless of your party. I'm still seething over what Van Drew did with my support - if I had known his character before casting my ballot, maybe I could have avoided giving him a vote. If we're worried about Russian money falling into the pockets of these candidates, I'd look to their history - do they seem like a grifting hack, or do they have a career of political service to our country that can back up their claims?

Saying you're "pro pot" doesn't compare to a resume of progressive activism, and I had a pretty hard time finding anything about this Adam Weeks guy prior to his death. I'm for third party and independent candidates and all that jazz, but we absolutely need to be voting for people with more to offer than "I like weed! (and GOP donations)"

There's a really easy way a Democratic candidate can avoid being screwed over by a third party candidate whose platform consists of the promise to legalize marijuana.
