Dude.....it's just so ridiculously easy to remove stuff you don't want other people to see off of your IPhone. You can clear specific call records, you can delete text conversations and much more.

/ For example, you have to be able to unlock my phone before you can see any texts I have received.

And if you really want to break your phone, a few seconds in the microwave will do the trick.

I'll do it for $80.

If your wife wants to see the history on your phone you're already dead.

Please tell the NY Post this laptop is unfixable, and give it to Rudy Giuliani. He wants to see the stuff the Russians put on it. $100 is yours, thanks.

Ask to see her phone.  Both of them.

Insist that you want to see both of her phones.

Dude couldn't "lose" the phone?

"Oops I dropped in the toilet!"

Keep the hundred, say the phone is broken, contact woman secretly and blackmail her for another hundred for the fixed phone.

Why are you looking at me like that??

Sure. He hid pried the phone open, then hid the note and cash inside. Seems totally legit

At least I'd like to imagine he smashed it on the ground but who knows.  It's all background noise to me.

hell I'd call her in, show/give her the note and the $100. She'd probably have me keep the $100. Sorry dude but if you cheat on your wife, you deserve to get a crap storm. Be a man dude.

"What is wrong with people saying you should tell her. Please don't tell her and keep the 100 save his marriage."

and by 'save the marriage' they mean 'allow him to keep running around and keeping her in the dark about it'

IMHO, the fact his wife wants to check the history of the phone, it tells me she already knows, and just wants to confirm it to his face.

DNRTFA but...

1. Last I checked, infidelity is not illegal (just distasteful)
2. Asking someone to delete photos/call logs is not illegal
3. Crowing on social media about customers' private lives is unprofessional

In summary - that is not a repair person I would take ANY of my tech to.
Goodness knows what he does with other people's data. Instead of treating it professionally, is he downloading all your kids photos? swiping key logs and selling them on dark net? If he's so cavalier about trumpeting this, I'm sure he's doin other stuff on the side, too.

Kinda depends on who the account owner is. If she is the owner, she can get the call history on the bill or by calling the phone company. If he's the owner, he should not have her as an authorized user.

Adultery is illegal in 17 states, Jack.

Who the fark narks/posts on shiat like that? You just laugh about it later with friends who you bought drinks with your free $100 because some moran can't google how to use/fix an iphone... although that's typical of apple product users, it's why they use the products. They aren't using ADB command line tools and the freedom to mess with just about everything on the phone. They want a locked down os, proprietary overpriced accessories/connections on hardware that they paid too much for.

/had to turn it into an apple hate thread
//also it's gotta be a fake story
///also get out of a relationship where the other person needs to check your phone all the time

Social media comments are all you can get when you write an article about a picture that was on reddit 2 months ago.  It was fake then, it's fake now.

that's not an enforceable law, other than how it applies to divorce.

It only can be used as a cause for divorce in all the legal proceedings, if you go that route. It's not a valid enforceable criminal law on the books in any state; ya ain't going to jail or paying fines for cheating is what the original farker was saying.

Apparently the cheater can figure out how to pry the back off his phone to hold a note and $100 but can't figure out how to break his own phone.

Microwave.
Drop it multiple times.
Hit it with a brick.
Smash it with a hammer.
Toss it into a lake, river, the ocean.
Give it to a homeless person.

ElecricalPast: In summary - that is not a repair person I would take ANY of my tech to.

Yeah, this is my view.  When I did helpdesk/IT support ages ago I worked on hundreds of computers.  Some had weird* stuff.  Only one got talked about with anyone other than consulted coworkers and the owner, and that one got referred to the police.  I have no idea what ended up happening in that case.  Anyway, maybe (I actually don't know) there's no law against a tech sharing that sort of thing, but it's still unprofessional.

As an aside, I once had to explain to an emeritus professor of limnology (he was in his very early 90's at the time) that there is, indeed, pornography on the internet**.  Anyway, you know that one guy on Earth that didn't know?  I ruined that.

* That is, detected by AV software or in the process of fixing a program
** A lab tech had gone to sketchy sites on a lab computer and just sort of walked away when the computer started acting funny.  I picture them with their hands in their pockets and whistling as they walked.

Maybe he's already done all of those once that would be suspicious to repeat any of them?

Side note.

The repairman doesn't get a commission on the phone probably so that does nothing for him.  Extended warranty is where it's at.

Can we stop with the Sun articles? Half of them are completely fake.
Also they have NSFW content, which is a problem for some.
Why? There are thousands of news sources.

I'll do it for $70 and a used copy of BioShock Infinite.  And I'll throw in an NDA for free.

Seriously people, if your electronics repair person won't give your an NDA on anything that isn't overtly illegal activity, go somewhere else.  Somewhere with an NDA.

You keep the hundo and say the phone can't be fixed. Then you wait for your next hundred when the dumbass realizes all those texts and other various evidence is backed up to the cloud and will probably automatically download on his next iDevice.

Please list the states in which those laws are enforced.  Marijuana is illegal in all 50 states, but many states don't enforce federal law.

As for TFA, dude should save that $100 for his lawyer.  He'll get caught eventually.

So what happened with the story? Did the tech guy 'fix' the phone or not? Did he erase the cheating information? Did he give the phone back to the guy unaltered? Which way did he go?

Curious: it also happened in the UK where the owner also opened his phone, put cash and a note inside, and handed it off to a repair shop.

Fake it for all those awesome internet points.
