It was perfectly worded to reel in some low information voters.

It's actually better than that. They intended it to be a stated goal more than an accomplishment.

Only these I guess:

The White House acknowledged on Wednesday that a report touting the "ending of the COVID-19 pandemic" as one of the Trump administration's accomplishments was "poorly worded."

Oh, so the fix here would have been a thesaurus. Alrighty.

Only after Hogan Gidley got his ass handed to him on the morning talk shows.  I enjoyed how he hadn't read it, didn't write it, had nothing to do with it, and just wanted to talk about anything else.  That was a small moment of entertainment at least.

I saw him on CNN this morning trying to think in real time how to spin "ending the pandemic" as literally anything other than that

They did not end Covid.  They just ended their concern.

Gidley is singularly bad at that.

Well, let me be clear and concise:

They meant ended acting like they cared about it.

There's not a way to rephrase it; it was a flat-out lie.

They meant to say it was one of Trump's accomplishments, not his administration, he does not like to share.

They stopped relief payments. So the rest will just work itself out naturally. They fixed the glitch.

Technically they are not lying, it just sounds like it

> Trump administration said it "has taken decisive actions to engage scientists and health professionals in academia, industry, and government to understand, treat, and defeat the disease."

That sentence is rather complex. Let's look at a simpler analogous sentence: "I hired Ralph to paint my house". That doesn't mean that Ralph has completed the painting, much less started on it.

If you took a piece of paper and wrote on it a lie this administration has told, if you did it for all the lies, the stack of paper would become a supermassive black hole and you would create a new universe.

If Droegemeier has integrity he should resign as science advisor over this.  The actual report doesn't have that language in it, but the press release "highlight" does.  The White House either put that in over his objections (bad) or put it in and didn't even run it past him and his people (also bad).

Trump contracted it, Trump recovered from it.  It's over as far as he's concerned.

Wouldn't they have to have had concern first, in order to end it?

232,735.  SO FAR.

Not so much "poorly worded" as "complete bullshiat."

2020-10-28 4:13:23 PM
"The intent was to say that it is our goal to end the virus."

So they weren't trying to accomplish a goal.

They weren't even trying to set a goal.

All they were trying to do was to "say" that they had a goal, and they failed to do even that.

Right this moment, 100 million people think that a Covid-19 vaccine will be approved by next Tuesday. They or people they love will will come down with Covid-19 sometime in the next 9 - 15 months

// FWIW, I also suspect that a "vaccine" might be "approved" by "next" "Tuesday," but for completely cynical reasons.
