None of them really seemed like more than the recessed rear wall template with a few textures stolen from the show. I wouldn't think of the show just from seeing any of them, especially Lisa's room.

Those are terrible.  Are we to ignore the amazing kitsch of the carrot curtains in the kitchen?  Whoever did these designs clearly does not love The Simpsons.

The full 90 min version is worth tracking down, it's actually pretty good.

Hey, they put in a saxophone, and then when they realized that wasn't enough, they randomly slapped the word "JAZZ" on the wall.  What more do you want?  Anything beyond the bare-minimum effort was apparently too much...

If nobody said "Wes Anderson", I don't think I would have gotten what they were going for, except for Homer's work station.

PG Wodehouse. Rex Stout. Raymond Chandler. Erik Satie. Paul Desmond. SJ Perelman, Elmore Leonard. etc etc.

Some artists are miniaturists.

Nobody else is like Wes Anderson. The people who make imitations and pastiches fail at it. It isn't easy to do what he does.

Earlier in the thread, I posted a picture of Joseph Cornell's. He made little constructions inside boxes. The one I posted looked remarkably like Wes Anderson's stuff -- I thought -- but very unlike most of Cornell's other work.  I don't understand the carping. Every artist begins with the exact same nothing and tries to coax something beautiful out of it.

Harry Wagstaff: Story sucked the first time too.

But now it sucks right from the original instead of giving clicks to an intermediate.

UGH.  So I went and looked at them again, just in case I was wrong the first time.

STILL NO.  Just making things pink does not make them Wes Anderson-ey.  The designer doesn't love The Simpsons OR Wes Anderson enough to get it right.  The Family Guy sketch was *much* closer to correct.

We should have a PS contest rectifying the problem.

I often wonder why we don't link to original sources more, especially if the greenlit article is just copypasta that doesn't provide additional insights.

Hey, who stuck that Meja song in my head?

Slightly off topic but if you're self-employed, in the past three years Home Advisor has gone from being my favorite marketing source to being just one step ahead of Yelp in terms of quasi legal fraud.

Yup. Fark HomeAdvisor. We're packing up my MIL's house and I contracted some packing help through their website. I asked for 3 people, was quoted a price that was reasonable for 3 people. Only 1 person showed up. I called their customer service and got transfered to a sub-cintractor. 'Oh, we don't do multiple helpers. If you wanted more than one, you need to make multiple reservations. Yes, that quote you were given was for only 1 person'. Absolute BS. I called HomeAdvisor back and they just shrugged. Nothing on the website told me the quote was for only 1 person, no confirmation that only one person was going to be there, and talking with the guy that showed, he was only going to get $100 for the job out of the $350+ that was quoted to me.

So yeah, fark HomeAdvisor with a rusty chainsaw. Wasted a full day on the phone trying sort this shiat out, get a refund, and find replacements.
