I didn't see it, but I'm pretty sure they revisited the same premise for 2016.

Their most damaging premise was that if you were in any way opinionated about an issue, you were an asshole because only people in the middle were smart or nuanced enough.  They visited it over and over, even trying to apply it to alcoholism (being completely sober makes you an asshole, being an alcoholic makes you an asshole, can't you just drink a little?).

Nevermind there's issues that shouldn't have a middle ground.  You should be firmly against them, and having an opinion about them shouldn't make you an asshole in matt and Trey's world.

South Park started out so well.  It was irreverent and didn't take itself seriously.  Then they really got into themselves and started with their "middle makes us better" schtick and they got real old real fast.

fark them.

You decided you didn't agree with them and stopped watching? Impossible! According to this thread, they're irresistable Svengalis who turned you into a dirty centrist who no longer votes.

Stop your lies about having independent thought and admit that South Park rules your mind! It rules all our minds! Such is their power, even over those who never saw the show!

/since the family isn't getting together this Thanksgiving, I'm going to give my phone its own seat and let Fark stand in for the crazy uncle who annoys everyone with his dumb political conspiracy ideas.

Yeah, I guess I decided they were no longer my cup of tea.  I think I might have kept watching them longer if they had taken stances against my beliefs than their weak shiat that they did.

Truth is I have no respect for that.  I will keep quiet sometimes when people talk politics at work, but I will.chime the fark in when somebody says something like "all politicians lie anyway" because it's farking lazy.  I can at least respect the stupid more.

I still wouldn't blame them for 2016, but I definitely think they have to make amends before I watch any of their shiat again.

It's funny, my daughter is nearing the age that I had when the simpsons were on.  I'm anxious to show her some of it.  There's not one part of me that wants to relive South Park through her eyes though.

All politicians DO lie, they are all pieces of human garbage.

Also - I think it's funny that people are upset that a couple of Gen X'ers make a show that has a Gen X attitude.  Big surprise.

This could be their "Robot Chicken" or "American Dad."

With all that entails, ie - popularity and a strong start over several seasons dovetailing into mediocrity and sticking around well past its expiration date.

everybody lies to some extent.  I tell people I'm five minutes away when I'm probably more like 8 minutes away.

But attitudes like yours are--and there's no kind way of saying this--moronic.  Because even if you do think they are all pieces of garbage, they all have voting records, they all have campaign donation records, they all have published platforms, they all have tax returns (well, all but Trump), and they all have print and video interviews.  So if you're just going to be the kind of lazy schmuck that throws their hands up in the air and says "they're all pieces of human garbage" you are neglecting the fact that you actually have objective data to make your decision by.

you have objective data that you can use to figure out that even if all of them were garbage, some politicians are worse than others, and some are just absolutely abhorrent.

As far as "GenX attitude", it seems GenX has trended liberal for a long time.  So the idea that South part has "GenX values" is--and there's no kind way of saying this either--well, you know the rest.
