I keep getting emails about working for Amazon, getting a $1500 bonus and $15-$18 an hour. Sounds nice but with the hellish conditions I will pass on that unless I am desperate. I still think they don't give benefits either.

Downside is it's $1500 in Amazon gift cards, and you only get $15+ if you have Prime.

Incorrect use of ostensibly.

"On top of an industry-leading $15 minimum wage, full-time regular jobs at Amazon come with comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance on day one, 401K with 50 percent company match, and a network to succeed"

Which is all remarkably irrelevant to your offer as a probationary seasonal on-demand worker for Integrity Staffing Solutions NC, LLC.  But sure sounds nice.

I was going to be cynical about these obviously being temporary. Maybe not formally, and maybe Amazon doesn't actively purge after the holidays, but hours available must drop and make many workers choose to quit. Otherwise, they'd have like a million employees after all these years of this seasonal story, right?

It kind of looks like they have been mostly accumulating employees at this scale though. Maybe the counts are all inflated on Dec 31, but according to this they had just under 88k employees at the end of 2012 and grew with just a little lumpiness to 798k at the end of 2019:

Obviously seasonal work and all those "benefits" are very likely full time only like every. other. job. that exists in the US.

Why hire 30,000 full time people who could potentially work out to some dedicated and proficient employees when you can hire 100,000 part-time temp employees, boost the "job" numbers of a couple government spreadsheets and have good old Uncle Sam give you a 50 billion dollar check and a gold star for "Helping the little guy..."

I've given myself arthritis from the amount of wanking motions I've had to make regarding this kinda of propaganda.
