We used to play INWO tarot, where we laid out cards at random and had to build a comprehensive conspiracy theory based on how they lay.

Only card I remember was Society for Creative Anarchism.

Maybe they'll have a card with the same effect, call it Dirty Bomb or whatever.

That's the one I remember. A guy in my gaming group had all of the expansion sets and the Monty Python expansion cards from Dragon magazine. Good times.

I have the stand-alone game.  I'll still break it out with my group every once in a while.

I'm curious to see how they'll do a video game adaptation. I assume something like Cultist Simulator.

Let's be honest.  INWO was a blatant attempt to use Steve Jackson's existing IP to cash in on the collectable card game craze started by Magic: The Gathering.

Eventually that petered out and they printed the 'One With Everything' box.

I loved that game.  I had thousands of cards.  Then I moved, shoved them in a box, and forgot about them for a couple of years.  When I found them again they had welded themselves into a brick.  I was very bummed.

To be fair (to be faaair),

Everyone did that in the '90s.  I had D&D Spellfire, Jihad (later Vampire:TES), Star Wars, Redemption, Marvel Overpower and a whole host of others.  50% of my income back then was spent ordering crap from InQuest Magazine.

As a fan of tarot, I need to try this.  Especially given that if you were the right cards at the right times, you could easily have predicted 9/11, Trump, Pizzagate, Pepe the Frog, etc.  The deck was actually pretty prescient.

Remember when Steve Jackson Games was raided by the secret service because they thought the GURPS Cyberpunk rulebook was an anarchist's hacking manual?

Ah, simpler times...

Oh yeah, it was basically printing money.

I mostly played Jihad, with a bit of INWO and considered myself frugal because I didn't get sucked into Magic.

Yea, I still have both the original edition and Illuminati! Deluxe.

Can only find players at cons anymore... my so-called "gaming group" would rather play "Dungeons and Dragons."

Dude, I was a regular at the SJG BBS when that went down.  Found out about it via FidoNET articles a day or two later... people were freaking out.

Illuminati BBS was awesome.  Homegrown BBS code.  One line.  30 minute limit per day.  Toll call from CA to TX.  And worth it.

Yeah, I got sucked in. Magic was just the gateway drug.

I was actually digging around in an old cabinet a couple of days ago and found 4 Overpower decks.  Can't believe I got suckered into that one. It was basically a more complicated version of War.

Same.  Out in the garage somewhere.

Cheaters rules, FTW

Suggested methods for cheating include:
1. Accidentally misread the dice.
2. Steal from the bank.
[...]
4. Stack the deck, or peek ahead.
5. If anyone leaves the table, anything goes!

Played this game a fair number of times in the mid to late 90's.  Always loved it.

It is not a game you can play with people who are expecting civility and rules-following.

It's heartening to see that there are other people out there into this game.  We should start a Fark league or guild or something if that's an option.  I feel like INWO really heavily influenced me in my teenage years, lol.

Well I'm following their Kickstarter now.  I will let you Farkers know if anything...strange...happens.
