I'm happy for Tommy, more happy for Vin Scully who is somehow younger than Lasorda.

Baseball is such a random sport that I figured it was a legit possibly I would die before seeing another Dodgers title.  I thouth5 Kershaw should have won the MVP but Seager was a beast all playoffs.

Good for them. They should put Kevin Cash on the trophy.

#2 payroll in the sport says it was going to happen sooner than later.

I would have rather had the Rays win their first, but I can't be mad that the Dodgers won.

If Game 7 was needed, it likely would have been delayed due to Turner's positive test.

I'm still scratching my head over why they let him come back out on the field and let him remove his mask.

Kevin Cash is a God damned moron.

That is all.

I'm tired of showing respect for people who show none to others. The entire team and staff need to be quarantined, Turner should face a suspension at the beginning of next season and I hope someone he loves dies.

I'm trying to figure out what the point of testing is if they don't get the results until the 8th inning. By that point, you might as well wait until tomorrow

So much wrong about this game... yet so much right.. .

- No results on Turner's COVID test prior to the game
- Turner's test coming up positive mid-game after interacting with both teams most of the game.
- Turner coming back out onto the field to celebrate ANYWAY. His excuse "I don't have any symptoms!"
- Manfred sounding like a stroke victim during the game thanks to the IFB's mix-minus.
- The Dodgers winning the World Series during a season-shortended, non-standard playoff format year. It's just SO Dodgers and SO 2020.

2020, the year of asterisks and COVID risks. Congratulations, Dodgers. I didn't even know the World Series was being played the last few days.

I've always liked Clayton Kershaw, so I'm glad he finally got the monkey off his back so to speak, and won a championship.

Justin Turner, on the other hand, should be beaten with a frozen trout. You get pulled from the game because you've tested positive, and then you run back onto the field, without a mask, and get in everyone's faces. Congrats. You've exposed everyone to the virus because you're a stupid, selfish coont. I hope, despite his selfishness and stupidity, no one else gets sick though. It's doubtful, but I still hope it all the same.

I know the above have bigger streaks, but hell, it took 41 years for the Angels to get a miracle fluke.

Just 'cause the Astros didn't "win" it, doesn't make the Dodgers the retroactive champions.

Kershaw would've been a good pick too - and nice considering his past postseason struggles - but it's hard to pick a guy who was only in two games over one that raked the whole series.

Congrats to the Dodgers but, man, it was hard to watch the wheels fall off the Rays' bus. Through game 3 of the series with the Astros they won 12 of 14 games going back to the regular season. Since then they won only 3 of 10 games.

2020-10-28 9:50:07 AM
the ragging on Cash is warranted, but the Rays lack of offense should be getting equal time.

2020-10-28 10:06:23 AM
The whole "third time through the order" thing should go out the window when the pitcher is throwing nearly unhittable stuff. (And no, one single in the sixth inning does not change the "nearly unhittable" conclusion.)

Through the first five innings, Bellinger's swat at the wasp was the most graceful swing by any Dodger.

Apparently security tried to stop him from doing so.  He's in deep shiat and probably will get a large fine and suspension.  Heck, since he's now a free agent he might just have ruined his overall career.

To be fair, he exposed everybody to the virus by being in the game prior to the positive test results coming back, but, yeah, breaking protocol like that tarnishes everything.

While I agree it was a dumbass thing to do, I do not believe he has ruined his career. He's to damn good.

The Dodgers WS championship is just as meaningful as any other WS championship.  Therefore, shortened seasons and expanded playoffs should be the new normal moving forward.

I moved to LA from Chile back in 1980.  Soon after that, I began to like baseball... and started to be a Dodgers fan.  I remember screaming my lungs out when Gibson hit his home run in the 1988 series.

Having said that, I have been living in the Raleigh, NC area for the last 20 years, and I do enjoy going to see the Durham Bulls play, which are the AAA affiliate team for the Rays.  I would have been OK with either team winning this series, but I was rooting for the Dodgers.

Congrats to the Dodgers for beating a team that has ~ 1/4th their payroll.

Considering that the Dodgers (with most of this same team) have won the division in a 162 game season for the last eight years, and have been in the Series three out of the last four years, saying that this season was unexpected or exceptional or that they wouldn't have done it in a normal year I think is unwarranted.  Heck, they are better this year than the past seven because they have Mookie now (and a simply exceptional bullpen overall, better than in years past).

God, what if other employers start thinking that paying employees more will improve their company's performance? That truly would be terrible.

No, its not. They didnt play the teams they normally would have played. They are basically the 2000s yankees of the west who bought the best team possible (because for some reason there still isnt any universal budget thats equal between all teams) and then played a shortie of a season against good teams, but teams they have a history of pounding into the pavement

Next year will tell us how well they actually can perform or if this was just the fluke season - because in no normal season would the rays be the world series contenders

It's never about payroll. It's always about chemistry. Out of the top 10 spenders in the MLB, 9 or 10 teams ALWAYS lose.

I would love to build a baseball team of .280-.310 hitters, none with any real power.  say 5 or 6 with some speed.  Just to see how successful it could be.  I love that kind of baseball, moving runners, stealing etc.

oh and maybe some decent pitching.  but contact pitchers, not strikeout ones.  I'd rather have a bunch of ground balls or fly outs.  get more innings that way and it's a lot more fun to watch.

Home runs are boring :)
