Ignore the list. Just assume that due to GOP court shenanigans it won't be accepted after election day. Get off your ass and vote as soon as you can.

Yeah, I thought most states simply declared a postmark deadline and then counted ballots until an unsurpassable winning margin was achieved? That way tight races don't get called too soon and no one can sneak in extra ballots without committing postal fraud.

A list I would like to see is how do states determine if a recount is necessary?
Within 1%, within n votes?

States do have a cutoff date regardless of postmark. Otherwise election counting could potentially extend indefinitely.

Sure are a lot of battleground states this year.

My vote has already been counted. Unfortunately, I'm in a deep blue non-swing state so it rally won't make much of a difference thanks to the electoral college.

I mailed in my absentee ballot about two weeks ago, and it still doesn't show as received on the tracking website. I'm a couple thousand miles away from my polling place, and I'm starting to get real nervous that I'm getting farked out of voting this year... Not that the state I'm registered in has a chance of going anything but red, but still, I'm pissed. I haven't missed a primary or election since I turned 18.

I decided to try and make up for it in other ways tonight.

Or before Election Day.

If you haven't already early voted deliver your mail-in ballots in person immediately to your SBE (if you can) and don't trust the USPS or ballot boxes at this time. Voting in person on Nov. 3rd is the last resort but if you squandered the other choices ...do it. Depending on where you live results may vary

Okay, why is Nevada a key battleground state? We're a swing state, yeah, but we have all of 6 electoral votes.

Not true, we also need to run up the popular vote score.

Just as I felt a bit subversive dropping my ballot off (three blocks away, in my cobalt blue county), everything is up for grabs this year. Trump flew to Nebraska today to try to get one electoral vote.

We don't know what reality we're in right now. Perhaps we are but a dream in Buddha's sleep.

I worked this out earlier today regards military ballots. Here's what I got.
This is based on a law passed to ensure that military personnel posted overseas have an honest chance to have their votes counted, an act passed by  congress. Note that this specifically contradicts Trumps recent assertions about some imaginal need to count votes on election night.

The law requires the count to be kept open.  These are the allowances for service members and families voting from overseas.

Alabama allow +7 days post election to receive military absentee ballots postmarked by election day.
Alaska +15 days
Arizona ED Election day
Arkansas  +10
California +17
Colorado +8
Connecticut ED
Delaware ED
Florida  +10
Georgia +3
Hawaii ED
Idaho  ED
Illinois +14
Indiana +10
Iowa +6
Maine ED
Maryland +10
Massachusetts  +10
Michigan ED
Minnesota  ED
Missouri  +3
Mississippi  *7
Montana ED
Nebraska ED
Nevada +7
New Hampshire  ED
New Jersey ED
New Mexico ED
New York  +13
North Carolina  +9
North Dakota +6
Ohio +10

Pennsylvania +6
Rhode Island +7
South Carolina ED
South Dakota ED
Tennessee ED
Texas +6
Utah +13
Vermont  ED
Virginia +3
Washington ED
West Virginia  +6
Wisconsin ED
Wyoming ED
Wyoming

22 States require ballots be received by Election Day.
28 States allow some grace period for the delivery of ballots postmarked by election day.

The buzzfeed article is not correct. There are special rules for accepting ballots from military personnel posted overseas.

To begin with, Alabama allows for ballots to be accepted from military personnel up to 7 days after the election day.

Why the rush? The new congress doesn't start until January?

Just count the votes and keep counting until the result is certain.

And it should be done by a non-partisan commission, not an elected and partisan Secretary of State.

I voted at the earliest possible chance I could. Early voting started Oct. 6th at 8:00 AM. Got there at 8:30. Waited in line till about 10:45. I could not wait to get it done.

The Supreme Court has all week to invalidate your vote. Do not wait until the last minute to mail in your ballot. Expect armed militia at polls to discourage your vote.

Uh, no. They count all the ballots each time.

In the county where my ex lives they hang around the ballot boxes. Small town in CA. Armed downtown. We don't really have polling sites like in the past so there are box watchers.

If you have a mail in ballot, and have not yet returned it, FILL IT OUT RIGHT NOW! Turn it in as soon as things open up in the morning.

/Got my ballot Oct 6th
//Mailed it Oct 7th

I did my ballet and handed it to the election officials at their desk. So not betting on mail this year.
