Metcalf...wow. He looked like a father chasing down a toddler.

Two observations:

1) Baker realizing Metcalf was bearing down on him was the funniest part of that play.  The "oh shiat!" moment when he turned around was just delightful.

2) The craziest part of that play was Baker was pretty much going top speed from the moment he got the ball to when he was running down the field, whereas Metcalf was moving laterally and started in a half jog before he took off.  It wasn't just that Metcalf ran faster than Baker, it's that Baker had a head start before Metcalf got up to top speed, and Metcalf still caught and tackled him.

One of the most unbelievable plays I've ever seen.

But Budda... turn a little to the right! Make him change direction! You might have beaten then!

That was fun to watch, the Cards should have kicked a damn field goal after that and possibly avoided overtime altogether.

That play happened early in the second quarter.  Cardinals kick the field goal and the whole game plays out differently.

The most amazing thing about that is that Metcalf is farking huge. No one that big should be able to accelerate like that.

It's sage advice, for sure. NFL memes twitter has some more funny ones, like this: https://twitter.com/NFL_Memes/status/1320754190273097731

I love Christmas, the Huskies (Baker is a UW alumn), and the Seahawks, so that one is perfect for me.

A little hard to see but this is the best I could find.  Buddha, Week 17 vs the Steelers last year.  Diontae Johnson catches a short pass, goes right (bottom of screen).  Buddha - #32 - runs at him from the secondary, close to the bottom of the screen.  Johnson spins, finds some blocks, and runs toward the endzone, at the other end of the field.  Buddha runs him down.  pause it at about 0:05 and find #32, watch the play, and watch #32 come from nowhere, screen right, at 0:14 to make the tackle.

NFL showed this play on a "full field view" play last week.  This clip doesn't do it justice. Buddha sees Johnson break, and Buddha has the presence to head him off at the pass; the perfect pursuit angle.  Not, "i'm gonna go where he is *now*, I'm gonna go where he's gonna be in 5 seconds."  incredible. and, he could have just jogged over, popcorn hustle, acting like on Film Monday, he's making a play. Nope.  A dead sprint to make the TD-saving tackle.

Buddha got Buddha'd yesterday.

he really moves efficiently .  It's almost like someone obsessed with physical fitness and bodybuilding has done some reading on biomechanics, etc.

in the game highlights, they used the next-gen-stats and showed his peak speed around 22 mph for a short range burst.  Considering that he's in cleats, on grass, and wearing pads and a helmet, that's insane, regardless of his size.

Usain Bolt, for comparison, had long-average bursts of 23 mph in his record setting runs, although he had short area peaks around 27mph .

Whenever I see a pro take a terrible angle and give up I want to scream. We did those drills constantly. There's no excuse for running to where a guy is at that level - that drill starts at about age 10.

Rant over

That play was fun to watch and I love the moment of everyone agreeing it was a freak athletic play. It's right up there with my old favorite...(I didn't label this video and it absolutely is NOT the greatest play in college football history)

He runs a 4.45 himself. He was probably never in that position before to even consider zigzagging.
