I know this happens every election cycle, and I think it is cool. Is it possible to elevate this woman from a small grave stone to something more befitting a warrior who challenged the status quo and worked to defeat a system of oppression and sexism?

Neat solution. They can even save the shield from each election to put on display somewhere as a voting through the years kind of thing, if they want. I'd be into seeing an exhibit like that.

WastrelWay: Stupid in two ways:

1) Let people put their stickers on the headstone (it's not called a "gravestone"). If the granite or whatever it is starts to show unacceptable wear in 100 years or so, replace it.

2) The remark about Trump pissing on it is uncalled for and supremely stupid.

/Subby, you're an idiot.

CSB

Ancestor was wealthy. When you were wealthy in 19th cent. Boston, you had your headstone carved in marble. If you were one of the unwashed masses, New England granite was your material of choice. Fast forward 200 years. Acid rain makes swiss cheese out of marble, granite holds up quite well. You just have to have a little patience and you can outlast them.

Do you think she would have wanted one?  Some people just do their thing and have no desire to be immortalized in stone for it.

I'll be fine with being thrown into a pen of hungry pigs once I'm done with my body, but I wouldn't object to a 20' stone statue erected in my memory.

She's in the Capital building in DC. Well, it is her and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Lucretia Mott. I don't think it'd be inappropriate to have something like that near her tombstone.

In a word, no. I've been to her grave in several locations and there is no way to create a larger memorial without having to disinter the body. She is a family plot. Also, Rochester has plenty of Susan B. Anthony meMoria last, including here house, a bridge named after her and Fredrick Douglass, as well as several other reminders of her existence. We are also about an hour from Seneca Falls and Women's Rights National Park, et al. I think this region has it covered.

I had no idea she was drawn and quartered.

Actually, she was drawn and dollared, though I can see why you'd mix them up, with the annoyingly similar coin size.

The voting sticker means something to a people that haven't had the right up until quite recently. It's absolutely about race. I don't care about the sticker either but the sticker isn't for me. I'm OK with that, why aren't you?
