Due to surgery years ago, I can't use earbud type headphones and use ones that clip on my ears.  Apple's buds like everything else apple makes, doesn't even have user replaceable batteries.

I hear ya.  I pretty picky about earbuds, but apparently I have massive ear canals.  The hard plastic ones fall out, which is pointless when I mostly use them for running and lawn mowing. I've found one particular set that I love, and I replaced the little silicone dome bud things with memory foam tips that you roll and put in like earplugs. When my first set finally died, I searched out the exact same model.

/not expensive or name brand
//SoundPeats Q30 for about $25
///good sound, durable, good battery life, and great for active use.

I've stuck with Anker for 5+ years. To me, they sound better than anything Apple makes and they come with at least 3 sets of alternative rubber tips for different ear canals. Plus their support is fantastic, they tend to replace things without even making you jump through hoops.

They're not JBL or Beats, but at $15-$35 you could definitely do a lot worse.

I've got the opposite problem. Earbuds feel like I'm trying to put a dinner plate in my ear, and earphones feel like I'm trying to shove a dildo in my ear.

Do any small air buds have user replaceable batteries?

I have the airpod pros and the sony wf-1000xm3 earbuds and the noise cancelation on the airpods is really impressive for an earbud. Also, based on the reviews from the people I talk with, the voice quality of a phone call when using the airpods blows the sonys away. The sound quality for music on the sony set is better than the airpods though.  But, I don't mind listening to music on the airpods.

I have a galaxy phone, so I don't get all of the features that would be available to an iphone user, but I really do think they are a good product.

My wife is like that. I always safe the tiny extra earbuds that come with headphones for her.

The good thing with the memory foam roll ones is they have amazing passive noise cancellation. I have a set of ANC Sennheiser over the ear headphones that cost a pretty penny more, and after trying to use those to mow (dead battery) I found far more roaring noises came through.

Anything's an earbud if you're brave enough.

I use 3M Work Tunes with bluetooth for hearing protection and music when I do yard work.  $52.00 through Amazon and slightly cheaper at Lowe's

The rest of the world: Yeah, so what? That's what companies do in the real world. Go finish your homework.

No.  I can see not liking the style of the air pods or similar products, but complaining about a non-user replaceable battery on these things is kind of dumb.

I really like the work tunes. I use them all the time in my shop. The battery life is amazing. But when it's really hot I can't do over the ears so I have some small ankers.

Yeah, but they 'updated' their product to omit one of the biggest selling points : noise cancelling, and replaced it with apple's other big selling point: the word 'pro'.

That's the opposite of an update. That's money grubbery.
