I've been wondering whether she uses three names on a daily basis, or if it's just for the national stage (sort of how we identify serial killers that way). Or is it just so we can all find her on facebook?

I'm just saying, I've never seen anyone do this in real life without an intentional hyphen.

I'm also imagining how many Amy Barretts in American might have woken up one day saying "shiat I have to get to my confirmation hearing!"

The GOP is going to be a minority party.
But they are doing everything in their power to make sure they still have the power. GOP party plank: Fark democracy, Fark the will of the people, party over country, minority rule forever!!

I guess the Dems weren't able to delay this, then?  And I guess there are no Republicans willing to side with them?

:-(

They're just trying to steal the RGB thunder without any understanding of where the lightning comes from.

The illegitimacy being incurred by the Federal government is quite alarming.

One day we'll hopefully have more people 4 names like my wife (post-marriage). Sadly, they don't spell out HDMI, STFU, or anything cool.

Republicans are publicly declaring 'We have no integrity as an ideological bloc. We place the pursuit of power over all other considerations. We are better than you.'

I am glad I am not the first to say that I am glad they stayed focused with this especially with everything else that is going on.  Shove it through like a bent over midget force receiving a Clydesdale without lube.

The Republican Party deserves to be voted into oblivion for what they have done to the country.

The Treason Turtle has the votes. The Contagious ACB will be appointed. Book it. Done.

The question now is what Biden and the Dems are willing to do about it if/when they take full control of both houses of Congress and the White House.

I'm curious how he will look this week, what with his advanced state of decomposition and all.

Just think, when the GOP's court packing efforts finally destroy the ACA, and allow insurers to refuse coverage for pre-existing conditions, all the people who have ever tested positive for Covid-19 will be nearly impossible to insure, as anything that pops up will get chalked up to long term effects.

I want him to live and keep his Senate seat as an ineffectual minority leader while Democrats dismantle everything McConnell has done. His whining will be epic.

If it's anything less than a total and complete witch hunt of every Republican atrocity of the last 12 years, it still won't be enough.

Fearing for the safety of my tv screen and my sanity I think I might give this shiat-show a hard pass.

It will be a travesty of insincerity and a day that will live in infamy.

We already know this.

It took only 30 days from nomination to vote for Barrett. Average time for SCOTUS appointees is 60 days. Nobody had to wait for shiat.

If they keel over any time before Jan 3rd, even if it's both of them on New Years Day, they'll have replacements nominated and approved before the next Congress.

Republicans are really bad at considering 2nd, 3rd, 4th order consequences.... abolishing the ACA pretty much paves the way politically for universal single payer.

Susan Collins has been allowed by McConnell to vote against it (since they have the votes and they're trying to save her ass).

Also, she made it abundantly clear she wasn't against Barrett, just the hastened process.

/ still hoping she gets kicked to the curb

It's a shame that Republicans don't feel shame from their hypocrisy. Because if the Biden expands the court and/or the Dems pass laws to expand the court - it'll be challenged and it will come up in front of SCOTUS. And those that consider themselves "originalists" will then bend every word they can find and read meaning and intention where there isn't any, to say it's unconstitutional.

There are rules the democrats could have used to delay this, but republicans don't play be the rules.

I wonder if that could be used to remove ACB from the SCOTUS, that the judicial committee broke their own rules to push through her nomination.

They didn't break the rules. Nobody objected to the rules being broken, and as such, the rules weren't broken.

Yes, the Senate 'rules' are exactly that stupid

Repubs could have easily passed some form of Covid relief now and voted in Barrett during the lame duck session. It's an incredibly stupid move.
