(WFAA Fort Worth)   Early voting analysis shows Dems are trouncing GOP voters, with double the number of ballots cast. Despite more recent increased GOP turnout, they're still -20%. "At some point, Republicans have to vote,"   (wfaa.com) divider line

Covid 19:  They have to vote in person sometime. Then we'll get them. We'll get them all. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha.

Aide:  Excuse me, Mr. Trump for interupting your daydream, but we have some numbers on the number of states that are increasingly likely to flip and the 9,000,000 Democrats who voted for you as a protest vote in 2016 are nowhere to be found today.

Dems are SURE of their votes. Nothing's gonna deter them. Lots of 'em are locked in already. Clearly, the Republicans aren't nearly as sure. If they'd made up their minds, they'd have voted already. Even if they're all voting on Nov 3rd, Democratic turnout being already in is going to mean that even 1% reduction turnout among election-day voters -due to getting busy, being sick (maybe due to COVID you caught at a Trump rally?), not wanting to stand in line in the rain at the new consolidated polling location, or whatever- is all it should take for Biden to outperform the polls in enough states that it'll be an electoral landslide.

2020-10-25 11:03:36 PM
Do not pay attention to any polls or "expectations" based on who has already voted.  If you haven't voted yet - VOTE!  If you have a mail ballot, drop it off at your canvasser's office if you can.  At this point, I wouldn't trust the postal service to get it there on time.

I voted early in Arkansas in 4 recent elections, and my experience was always exactly what you described.

Except for that one time when I went to the library in a predominately black neighborhood to vote, then the line took about two hours. That was a week or so before the 2016 election.

Trump has likely irreparably damaged his chances by attacking mail-in voting. Trump was the underdog during the last election and Americans love to cheer for an underdog. His campaign is running the same playbook but even his dumbest supporters know that Trump is not the underdog anymore. The closer to Election Day, the more chances his voters will decide he's a loser. Americans don't vote for losers. On Election Night, the Republican votes are just going to fizzle. I'm not expecting a huge shift to Democrats, rather the votes just won't be there. As it's been said many times before, if Trump loses you're going to find a lot of people who voted for him the first time, and no one who voted for him the second time.

Election day should be a national holiday. Not one of those jammed against a weekend so all the morons drag out their jet-skis holidays, but, mid-week (maybe a Tuesday). Absentee voting if you really need it. Enough polling places where anyone can vote in 10 minutes. (My own polling place, I've never even had to wait in a line. Not once in 25 years.)

I haven't voted yet because I don't trust the mail-in system. I trust the Post Office - they're cool for the most part - except for the occasional missing package that vorps itself into someone's bag at the dizzy center. I'll vote at the poll on tuesday.

We really need a national voting standard. Some states use punch cards, some use paper ballots, some use electronic, fark it wouldn't surprise me if Rhode Island was still using the old lever machines.

In SF, we have paper ballots that are scanned by a machine. In a world where digital farkery is all too common, this is a pretty good system. You can always go back and count them by hand. (Assuming there's a verified provenance.)

And we need to teach Americans that maybe not every election can be settled the second the polls close on the east coast. Farkin football fans, "BUH WHO DONE WON?"

Give it a few days. Let the poll workers do their thing.

I don't like early voting. I think it breaks more things than it fixes. Well, in most years. This year with the pandemic maybe it's ok. I don't know. But if a site like Fark that's filled with wacko gun nuts is tilting overwhelmingly to Biden, well, maybe we have a chance.

Vote, lefties.

I was motoring back from seeing some relatives out in the east bay a few weeks ago. Not more than half an hour from San Francisco. There was a group of people on a freeway overpass flying Trump flags. I rolled down my window, amongst much honking, and flipped those farkers the bird, at the exact same moment another guy in another pickup truck ahead of me did the same thing.

It gave me hope.

But god damn. Bay area Trumpers. Th' fark are you thinking?

gunther_bumpass: Election day should be a national holiday.

The day was chosen so that land owners to get on their coach after Church on Sunday and still go vote.  It is gross.  The fact the most power democratic nation in the World has a one day election on a non-holiday Tuesday is because the only people the rule were written for were white male land owners.  No one else got a vote back then, no Black, no women, no poors.

Yeah, won't happen to Trump party members.  You see, us in Trumplandia don't wait in elections.  Ever.  There are plenty of polling stations, all well staffed and efficient.  The voting machines are always in good condition, so there are never any problems.  Waiting is for, well, *those* people.

yukonexceptionialism: Trump has likely irreparably damaged his chances by attacking mail-in voting.

You won't find many people who voted for him the first time in a decade or so. They will claim support for virtually anyone in 2016 except Hillary and now, Trump. They're shameless but they don't like being unpopular.

Your CA property taxes are fixed under Prop 13, and state income taxes, local sales taxes have nothing to do with Trump. Chances are you're actually getting screwed under the tax system that Trump has passed.

And as far as "socialism" goes - you're already paying for it. Through taxes and premiums payed by yourself or employers - but you're not seeing the benefits. All that money is just getting funneled out of your pockets into the ruling class.

You're aware that immigration has been an issue that Trump has expounded on a great deal, that they built new facilities specifically to house all the children they've kidnapped, and you wonder if perhaps Obama - who never did any of that - might have kidnapped more children than Trump. By the way, those tax cuts are instant gratification but they increased the deficit by a significant amount, which is economic stupidity in a growing economy. That money WILL need to be paid back and will be a drag on our overall economic recovery from the recession we are now in. That may directly or indirectly have a negative effect on your personal finances in the long run.

If you REALLY are interested in long term financial protection it is more complicated than "TAX CUT GOOD! ME LIKE TRUMP!" The very wealthy have the ability to overlook this, if you are very wealthy then you may have a point. If you get a pay check you are probably just the type of voter Trump wants.

Actually, I agree with you. It's another thing I can't stand about the Republican Party. They scream about the deficit and then spend like crazy when they're in office.

However, I still think I can do better with Republicans. I'll try to collect gains while they boost the market (Tesla and Apple pre-split) and when it crashes hopefully can pick up bargains. I did great during the housing crisis and would take advantage of that opportunity again.

Like I've said, I'm in California so my vote doesn't count anyway.

It may not count but it says so much about the person you are. I do pretty well financially, but there are more important things to vote for than making sure my well off ass does better.

Agreed. Not only greedy and short sighted but cant see a difference between Trump abd Biden?

That is either trolling or willfull ignorance.

Fair enough.

I was actually semi-impressed with Biden during the debates. He got his message across and was completely lucid.

I agree that money will be need to be paid back which is why I'm trying to secure a nice retirement. I'm not convinced social security will be there for me (maybe a minimal amount?) even if I live long enough to collect.

See it it comments like that that moved you from a (ignorant) green to a mid level red.  I do not think you quite understand how hard it is to get to a mid level red.

Picture this - all your neighbours are starving and homeless, and yours is the last house with food in it ... .

At that point which group would you like to belong to?

Oh and just to add flavour, all your neighbours have guns ... !

Okay, well most of my neighbors are Indian or Chinese Americans. They do pretty much the same thing I'm doing. I'm not worried about them starving or coming after me.

My Chinese American friend owns several houses in the Bay Area and most of the other people I know do well enough.

I think your description of what could happen is overly dramatic.

Bandito King: yukonexceptionialism: Trump has likely irreparably damaged his chances by attacking mail-in voting.

You won't find many people who voted for him the first time in a decade or so. They will claim support for virtually anyone in 2016 except Hillary and now, Trump. They're shameless but they don't like being unpopular.

I try to be centrist. Definitely agree with the left on global warming. I don't have an opinion on abortion. I'm for some gun control. I definitely want lower taxes or at least I don't want to see my taxes increased.

We did have record fires here in Northern California. I would really like to know how much of it is global warming related vs poor forestry management.

Those are all the stop gaps people have put in since the white male land owners made there rules.  But let us be honest, most sensible democracies have their elections of a Saturday or Sunday so that most people can easily vote.  And the best ones make that day a holiday where very few have to work.

A week day, a Tuesday (I explained why above, damn those horses and few voting places,) a non-holiday Tuesday .... no wonder so many states have allowed for ways to vote early.

We're going to need every Democrat who has already voted to go to the polls on November 3rd, wait in line and when you get to the election official ask if your vote has been counted. Really hold up the line if they don't have the information ready at hand.

Lets see how Republicans like waiting in line 16 hours.

Buses of illegals with fake IDs being driven around the country, people putting multiple ballots in, Democrat ballot counters no throwing out all the fraudulent votes, etc. Trump and all of his sycophants and cult will bay for blood on November 4th, and the Supreme Court and his domestic terrorists will be happy to oblige.

Part of me thinks that will fire up Democrats even more.

The more likely people are to wait til Election Day the more likely they are to not vote at all.

Shiat happens. Things come up. They roll up and it looks like a giant hassle, or a multi-hour wait, so they leave. Work runs over that day. They just plain forget until they turn on the TV that evening. And lots of people aren't super-into politics, so they'll take a pass if it seems difficult or annoying or an all-day affair.

All of the above is why a big early voting advantage is fantastic and matters greatly. Make it happen.

2020-10-26 7:54:01 AM
So, 25-30% of the voters are "new or infrequent voters" - voters who did not feel motivated to vote for Trump previously - or anyone, really. But all of a sudden, after 4 years, this surge in voters kicks into gear?? Yeah, they aren't there to re-affirm an incumbent POTUS😅

2020-10-26 8:01:04 AM
When they go to vote, they know there will be working machines at their polling place.  There will be enough volunteers to speed them through and they assume there won't be any cops to check for warrants or pull them out of line to say "You know, you fit the description of a man we're looking for."

Especially after last night's 60 Minutes interviews.

Trump's was as brutal a self-immolation as I've seen. The "I'll be right back" and then ditching, then sending Kayleigh out with the not-healthcare-plan book.

Then that cool-washcloth-on-my-fevered-head Biden interview. He was poised and calm and smart and kind. I felt my rising blood pressure ease, my racing heart slowed.

Unless?  Have you been paying attention?  There already are serious efforts to throw out these ballots- the PA SC just slapped down two of them, but there are more cued up and ready to be filed in the hopes they get out into the Trump-packed federal courts

This *is* the Trump party strategy- they aren't trying to hide it.  They have publicly stated they think they can invalidate half of all mail in ballots.  That's being wildly optimistic (for them) but they only need to dispose of a few percent in key states.

And I'm pretty sure they will.

I don't have that kind of optimism, and I will say that even if Trump loses he still can do a lot of temper tantrum damage on his way out, but I think it's interesting that Trump voters like yourself appear to have embraced that he's on his way out.

My Trump loving family member called me over the weekend to ask more about Biden policies. Not because they were going to vote for him, but they were resigned to a Biden presidency and were worried about what they'd read online about things he would do. That and people on the predicted winning side are like 'no need to vote, it's already decided.'

Actually, it works the other way.  The people on the predicted loosing side are the ones less likely to vote because 'it has already been decided."  People like winners.  People like being on the winning side.  Being on the winning side motivates people to vote because they want to be a part of the winning.

Glockenspiel Hero: ansius: The thing is, unless there's a serious effort at throwing out these ballots, these are votes in the bag.

Trump is counting on a large turn out on the day to save his skin, but these are still potential votes. Many of these people may choose to just not turn up.

Biden has actual votes and he needs to rely less on potential votes than Trump.

The plan is for any state that has a Dem governor and a GOP state Congress. More specifically, the GOPers will put up their own electors that verify tRump as the winner, running counter to the Dem appointed ones who elect Biden. This WILL happen in any swing state set up as aforementioned and any Red state that the Dems happen to flip.

From there it gets contested and goes either to the court, which they've stacked just for this, or to the House for one vote per state. While this isn't a guarantee for tRump, it's his best shot and a damn likely one.

They've already told you they were going to do this, but I still see a torrent of red herrings about how we need to vote in numbers to big to ignore, etc. That was the whole point in biatching about the mail in votes. It gives cover to the states to do this and then say "Hey, all we've been hearing about is all of this rampant Dem cheating, so we had an obligation to..."

As someone already said, 2016 was our last chance, but we collectively smacked her hand away.

At some point, Republicans have to hide.

recondite cetacean: They will vote on voting day. You'd have to be stupid to not realize this.

Of course they will. This is all premature celebration.

Gyrfalcon: Keizer_Ghidorah: Th entire reason Moscow Mitch is rushing ACB into the SC is so they can contest and throw out the results of the election if Trump loses, claiming widespread rampant Democrat voter and election fraud.

No.

There was an interview with that asshole I caught on my newsfeed today.

It is solely because "they can't undo it." McConnell was gloating that everything that's been done the last four years will be undone pretty quickly, but "they'll be stuck with this [Barrett] for the next 40 years."

I've never heard anything like that from McConnell before. He openly said the only reason for Barrett was to stick it to the libs. And for no other reason.

He knows Trump is going to lose, he's going down too, and this is just a last mean fark you to America.

Pass bill that says "SCOTUS is now 6 members, retained by seniority".

Send to Biden to sign.

Boom.  No ACB, I like beer, or Not Garland.

Pass another bill, "SCOTUS is now 13 members, autoconfirm 7 new justices".  Send to Biden to sign.

Hell, have Biden come up to the Senate so he can sign 'em seconds after the vote closes.  He knows his way around those chambers, won't need to be hand-held by the majority leader.

Biden appoints 7 new members.  They take their seats .1 seconds after they are announced.  He can announce that Obama, Obama, Garland, Biden, Clinton, Clinton and Clinton are the new SCOTUS members right after signing.

The Democrats can undo everything the GOP has done on the afternoon of the 20th if they feel like it.  And they should.

/Will need to make sure the coroners has enough body bags on hand - 'cause heads will be assplodin in the chamber

Nocrash: labman: SoupGuru: That's the problem with early voting. The headlines motivate the voters of the campaign that's lagging behind.

That and people on the predicted winning side are like 'no need to vote, it's already decided.'

And then there is the "let's beat the loser onto a pulp" crowd.

A crowd, like Ender, who wants to win all the future battles as well.

The victory laps are a bit premature.
There's still election day and the probably few weeks afterwards where they have slap fights in court over ballot counting.

This is a fun thought game, but the constitution is pretty clear it's a life term for justices unless there is impeachment.

In other words, that 6 member court could only happen once those three were done.

The easier road is to say how terrible that Democrat Donald Trump has been for our country.

No one takes anything you say seriously and only some people enjoy it. You are the fark equivalent of a home pregnancy ad in the middle of a reality show. Just a pointless diversion from what people are actually interested in.

Which, today, is largely what a shiatty person fake_soldier is.

Do not be shy about your feelings.  You can be honest with me.  We both pay the five dollars a month to post here, though I think it is now closer to seven-fifty, I do not know, my mom pays for my subscription.

There are actual and interesting discussions to be had on these topics, most individuals are not capable of them, that includes the Poltab.  They will continue to double down on their sickness by voting for the big-government corporate technocrats who merely disagree on how the impersonal bureaucracies will continue to suck the soul out of the human condition.

Note that I did not mention which political party they are voting for because I enjoy the ambiguity of the very bad people on both sides.

So if you want to have an actual discussion about the technology and economics and philosophy of the insane distortion that is twenty-first century, the thing that leads to the politics, then I am totally fine with doing so, but I do not waste my time with imagined problems that don't anywhere get near the root of the anxiety and the misery.

Donald Trump is a mere symptom of the disease, the disease is caused by excessive consumption of the Diet Coke that is a core component of his nutrition, the Diet Coke is made in massive factories, and those factories employ individuals who have been robbed of meaningful and interesting goals that give one a sense of confidence in themselves.

The fact I've told that system to mostly go shove it and focused my time and energy on myself is the reason that I don't freak out about politics, the reason that I have confidence, the confidence that I can sing and laugh and dance while telling you that you need to get your shiat in order.

So I'll wake up on November 4th, and no matter who the president is going to be, I'll make a follow-up post claiming that Hillary Clinton's reign of terror is finally over, and that it was a real shame Donald Trump didn't get a chance to lead this country.

If you're going to be upset about that, just know that you voted for all the policies that got you to this very moment in the first place, you will realize that the human condition is complicated, and you will have nobody but yourself to blame for my actions.  I apologize if you were offended.  You're welcome.
