At the moment, Boris Johnson is "the smart one" in the US/UK relationship, but that's not saying much.

2020-10-25 7:41:41 AM
A Joe Biden White House will have little time and less love for 'Britain's Trump'

I consider that a bonus.

I'm sure the ass kissing from the english turd will be absolutely cringe inducing.

Such is the continued decline of "great" brittain.

I have hopes that if we elect Biden, Britain will sober up too. And we can both do our walk of shame back to normal. Maybe meet for brunch and swap cringe inducing stories.

My dog gets so excited when he sees a treat that tries to roll over, but forget to lie down and he flings himself in a circle instead, often smacking against the wall as he does it

I would consider him the smart one in that relationship

Not to worry. By the time our farm lobby gets done with Biden, he'll make getting GMO and bleached American food products onto the UK supermarkets a priority.

2020-10-25 10:23:30 AM
At least Biden won't be in some cringeworthy Twitter battle with the mayor of London or something juvenile like that. Full stop.

Which Britons? Johnson is an absolute joke.

All the more reason to GET RID OF HIM.  Jesus, man, it's not brain surgery, just chuck him in a bin and stop this farce.

It seems to me that Boris is significantly smarter than Trump, but just as craven.  Politicians often have to work with the opposition and compromise more than their voters would like, but it would be foolish to think they can re-skin / re-brand away from Trump.  That orange stain and stink doesn't wash off Boris.  Trump will go down in history as the worst President of the modern era and you'll be remembered as a sycophantic accomplice.

Exactly. The idea of electing Biden and missing out on the chance to make a deal with a soaring UK is pure farce.

Sadly not, we still have years before the Tories have to call a General Election, their incompetence and corruption is more brazen than ever, and we also still have Brexit to look forward to.
2021 is well on course to being even more grim than 2020.

If you guys elect Biden (please, please, please elect Biden!) then the UK will have a far stronger claim to the 'Stupidest Nation in the World' trophy.

The only problem with Biden being elected is that it means Trump will no longer be the most embarrassing head of state in the world.

It's an apt description for the man who will steer (as much as you can steer a brick falling down a well) us through Brexit.

2020-10-25 10:34:52 AM
Well, yeah.

Joe > Boris > Dumbald

In terms of brain power.

There's a lot of talk in here of Boris kissing Trumpian ass, but I don't see it. No more than a necessity to work with him. What has Bojo done that's so egregious he can be called an "accomplice" to Trump?

If you look at the amount of Russian money in London and orbiting the Tories, then yes, they are definitely kissing up to Vlad.

Bslim: A Joe Biden White House will have little time and less love for 'Britain's Trump'

I consider that a bonus.

At the same time Biden isn't a narcissist a$$hole and won't consider it a personal affront or a permanently dug grave. Boris, and future Prime Ministers, will have to be careful with Ireland and NATO but there's latitude for things to come back to normal. However England will have to accept the fact they are a much smaller ally to the EU as a whole. That means a proportionate reduction in importance/influence in both defense and trade.

As long as nobody decides to act like a blithering idiot, there'll be no vengeance. Why should there be? We subjected them to Trumplethinskin for 4 years, so it's not like we're faultless. I mean the Grifter-in-Chief was pressuring them about his golf course FFS, so we owe an apology as well.

I don't think we have to a damn thing about our special relationship - say you love the British people, state we stand with our friends in good times and bad. Boris has revealed himself and Brexit will also hurt the British people. The British people need to rise up. Turning to Germany, with a sane, smart, leader should simply make it evident to the British of how we want to operate going forward and that they have screwed themselves.

Dear concerned Ukers,

Even if Trump won the coming election, there would be nothing in it for you. If you've been living under a rock ever since you ticked yes on the Brexit referendum, Trump doesn't even care about his own country. What makes any of you think he'd lend a hand to yours? That's how the narcissist do.

Boris isn't worried, he's bailing in the spring then running to mainland Europe.

Boris Johnson is a corrupt, idiotic, blustering tool who quite clearly only wanted to be Prime Minister for the title, won re-election on the back of an insultingly short non-manifesto that barely stretches to a year's programme for Government, and is quite clearly discomfitted by the COVID-19 crisis meaning he has to be accountable for delivering something rather than just bluffing and looking Prime Ministerial. And that's leaving aside his inscrutable attitude to Brexit, where he'll either do what he did before and cave in to the EU at the last second while presenting it as a triumph (like he did the last time) or he's actively trying to crash the country into a no deal situation to try and build some quasi-Thatcherite dystopia based on a buccaneering Britain that never was from the ashes, based on the weird fever dreams of his underlings like Gove and Cummings.

All that, and he's stillless of a farking wasteman than Trump.

/don't blame me, I voted for Corbyn
//maybe if people could have seen a year into the future last December, more people would have done and we'd have a government that actually gives a shiat

And duplicitous.    It's not saying much to point out that someone is better educated than Trump, but in terms of education Boris is head and shoulders above Trump.   I watched an interview of Johnson where he gave a professorial lecture about some historical event.   Could Trump do that? I doubt Trump could even understand it.  Johnson also studied a bit of Latin, and apparently has a conversational ability in French and Italian.  Trump can't even speak English properly.   No, Johnson isn't a bit smarter than Trump, he's a lot smarter than Trump.  Probably with Johnson is that he's as big a scumbag as Trump.

I agree except for the notion that Johnson has ever managed to look Prime Ministerial. P.M.'s question time is broadcast live; we all know how those attempts to appear Prime Ministerial have gone.

Even if UK sobered up on Nov 4th and somehow forced mass resignations and completely redid their leadership...
... they're still not part if the EU.  They're still a tiny place, on their own, and their main industry (finance) is able to rapidly relocate (and has incentive to).  UK is FARKED right now from an international perspective.

I think they will work fine together.

2020-10-25 12:22:13 PM
Biden will be too busy trying to rebuild all the international relationships that Trump wrecked to give special attention to BoJo.  Maybe after BoJo loses his seat because of the results of the Hard Brexit, Biden and the next British Prime Minister can commiserate about how hard it is to fix a country after morons have broken everything.

The next time Boris has to face an election could be December 2024. President Biden will have to fight his re election before that.

/The UK Fixed Term act says May 2024, but Boris was elected on a manifesto promise to repeal that and give the PM back the power to choose the date, so the five year limit would come back into force.

Those Tories introduced new tax avoidance and money laundering laws, which the EU then copied, and refused visas to people like Chelsea FC owner Roman Abromnavich.

Yeah, can't see Trump doing that.

Fissile: Johnson also studied a bit of Latin, and apparently has a conversational ability in French and Italian.  Trump can't even speak English properly.

Boris being interviewed on French TV, in French.

Fissile: Probably with Johnson is that he's as big a scumbag as Trump.

In his private life I'd probably agree, but then he's never campaigned on a moral high ground either. He campaigned for Brexit, and then became Tory leader on Brexit and then stood for election on that Brexit promise, and won a huge majority and is now carrying out that Brexit. He's kept his word. You may not like it, but he has done what he promised.

As for Biden, a recent thread was all about the many Tories wishing for a Biden victory, even with the supposed risk of Biden being cool to the UK. Far better to negotiate a trade deal with someone sane than deal with someone like Trump who promises the earth but only looks out for himself.
