Anybody who willingly exposes themselves to their lunacy should make better choices.

Yep.

It's time our nation starts fighting these assholes. At SOME POINT, one's rights stop when they infringe upon the rights of others to EXIST.

I'm totally imagining this being a religious teaching of the menstrual cycle.

I'd be curious to hear their explanation as to why, when the president caught the 'rona, he was immediately flown to an "industrialized, state-run" hospital and given the very latest treatments instead of being made spiritually airtight by Joel Osteen and Pat Robertson?

If my church did that, I'd find another church.

I went to doctors about my cancer and my hernia. I also prayed and meditated about them, but not to the exclusion of getting good advice about them and taking action.

Our church has gone with very strict CDC guidance and so far, no cases traceable to the church.

There is some science associating prayer by the individual with better health outcomes, however that is due to positive mentality causing your immune system to stay in stronger shape, not because a sky wizard blessed you.

3) Forcing businesses to ban smoking indoors
4) Pretty much all OSHA safety laws

Then it is incumbent upon you to figure out how to keep all the people in your Bible-based association quarantined away from the rest of the people in the state.  Otherwise, you should agree to open yourselves up to litigation from each person you infect.  If your God is as powerful as you claim, you should have nothing to worry about.  If not, you're one in a long line of childish, selfish crybabies who refuse to abide by societal mores while demanding to reap the benefits.  And society is saying no.

Sorry, religious jerks - I may be an atheist, but I have observed enough of religion to know that there are plenty of inoffensive, sane, decent ways of worshiping these "Gods" you believe in.
And when you use those gods as an excuse for murder and theft and child molestation and all the other things  - I know that's just you being an asshole.
Your god didn't do it - you did.
You could comply with all fact-based social behaviors, and your God wouldn't be the least offended in any way - this is all you.
You don't face any "choice" - you could easily be a nice, smart, civilized human being, and still embrace your faith - you just don't want to.

See, you secular humanists don't understand that they are liter ordered by God to obey authority. Hold on, wrong argument. See, they are conditioned to have faith in things they can't see, and keep themselves separated, or quarantined, from those with sin or disease, and they believe in wearing clothes that will protect them from evil. Damn, still the we argument.
See, their prophet said that you could tell wise people from idiots by whether they listen to science and understood signs from nature and nature science, because science is a testimony to their God. Dang it, hold on.

I'm sure there's something in a Bible obsessed with natural selection, perfection, sacrifice and disease avoidance that says it's ok to rebel and infect yourself to stiggit.

Dude. The bible says you have to obey the authorities here, on earth, because they were put in that position by the will of god.

Whether you believe in them or not.

Whether you agree with them or not.

You are supposed to obey the authorities.

They should really compromise with these poor persecuted religious groups.  Let them have their classes maskless & not distanced, don't even need contact tracing really... just don't let them leave.

Everybody who wants to go attend the school or thinks they're doing things the right way & works there, just commits to a quarantine lock down & stays there.  We'll revisit & check on them in say three months & see if any are left alive.

2020-10-25 9:08:05 AM
And yet, they're going to keep playing the "OMG we're being PERSECUTED!!!" card because of this.  Morons.  They have no idea what actual persecution looks like.  If they did, they'd all be in jail, kids included.  Or executed down to the last child for their faith.

But yeah, being required to wear a mask is totally the same thing.

2020-10-25 9:10:00 AM
Wiping lamb's blood on your door is probably optional, but the Bible is pretty clear about staying in your homes during a plague.

It's fun to argue with the fundies though and watch the mental gymnastics they have to go through to defend their position. The old joke of sending a workers, a boat, and a helicopter to save a religious couple who refuse to leave their home in a flood could not possibly be more accurate to reality. The amount of cognitive dissonance required to even attempt some of the arguments is beyond me.

2020-10-25 9:17:41 AM
The 2020 update of that old joke would be:
- I SENT FAUCI and rest of the epidemiologists
- I sent the critical health care workers
- I created the popular minstrels who advised you to you to wear the me-damned masks

Pretty sure if the Israelites, Egyptians and Philistines had access to N95's during any of their plague bouts in Biblical times they'd use them like extensions of their bodies.

I have several friends who are ministers and have had absolutely no issues running their congregations while adhering to protocols.  They chalk it up to that Christ teaching stuff dealing with taking care of neighbors and whatnot.

So you mean they go through their book and pick out the parts they like and only adhere to that? According to them, god took time out of his schedule to write down the 10 things that really made him mad. 1 god, don't talk shiat about god, god gets a day once a week, honor your parents, no murder, no adultery, no stealing, no lying, no banging married women, and no coveting material things (which is obviously why trump was chosen by god).  Nothing about masks, nothing about gays, nothing about owning guns, nothing about being white is better. They simply do what they want, when they want to, how they want. Then I'll scream at you and say it's their God-given right. No, it is not. As you just stated, they act like assholes because they want to be assholes.

I think their logic goes "Telling us to wear masks and to social distance and try not to do large gatherings to prevent the spread of disease violates my freedom of religion because it's persecution or something like that, even though it applies to everyone in the state, including the Godless atheists. We're special like that."
