FTFA-One attendee's plea on behalf of an obscure railway project in Alaska...

How about some high speed rail on the East Coast instead?  You know a place, that doesn't have among the lowest population density in the world.

I'm amazed that some of the rubes I've talked to recently still the drain the swamp BS.  It was laughable coming from him on his first utterance.  To still cling to the sentiment now is just depressing.

In order to abandon something, you have to have actually started it. Trump knew he would fill DC with more sludge with each appointment or he would just leave the position unfilled. "What's in it for me?" politics at its best.

He said the words once, and got cheers for it.  So he started to repeat it a lot.

It never meant anything, just like everything that comes out of the open sewer in his face.

He said that sh*t to make sure the first person to come to him (natch tears in eyes) was them who he said he was there to attack.

GOP are the swamp.
Always have been.
That's why they always accuse the Dems of things they aren't guilty of.
So Dems will play defence and never make the obvious argument.
Trump accuses Dems of more made up shiat precisely because he is the most criminally corrupt POTUS of the modern era.
WaPo wants to talk about how Trump "abandoned" his pledge to "drain the swamp"?
F*ck off, WaPo.
Try again.

Donald Trump said Friday he doesn't care about prosecuting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, after attendees at his rally chanted "lock her up."
After the chants started at the President-elect's post-election "thank you" rally in Michigan, he responded, "That plays great before the election -- now we don't care, right?"

This.  "Abandoning" it would have meant starting it in the first place, as if he didn't live in the swamp.  Alan Moore couldn't have created a better swamp denizen.

It's bullsh*t because DC wasn't built on swamp land.  Politicians use the term for points, but very little of DC was actual swamp.  Nobody builds a city on a f'ing swamp, outside of Monty Python movies.

Yes his magaats are convinced he "fixed all corruption" in DC simply because trump says that he has during his rallies.

lol, you are giving him that? i have seen more convincing acts from middle schoolers.  any kind of showmanship is the credit of the producers of 'the apprentice'  apparently, he couldn't even handle fake firing somebody on a tv show.  that is not in any way convincing. he does have a bunch of stupid slogans though.

He should combine the swamp one and the tRump express one - The Drain Train. Instead of a chugging engine, it could be a yuge sucking sound (Ivanka could supply the voicework) for the ads

Less money to the taxman means more money to spend on corrupt politicians. I'd like to see any American business disappear because of fairer taxes. Where would they go to? South America?

I knew most of the stuff before reading TFA. But there are still idiots out there who genuinely believe that Trump drained the swamp. Facts don't matter. That weaksauce executive order didn't matter. It's worse/swampier than it's ever been.  Why do I know this but those chanting people don't? I'm not particularly smart.

I know these next months, if lame duck, will be odd, but at the end I just want this charlatan asshole gone. We can rebuild. It's America, man. We've pulled off some serious stunts before, even after exhausting all other options. Look at our bright spots in history. Perhaps this can be one of them.

not exactly a swamp, but very flat glacier remains. kind of a really interesting story of how they raised the city to have the first modern sewer system, but it was a disease infested mess.  amazing what can be done with engineering and epidemiology when put to good use.

Oh I agree he can't do it for shiat and most normal people never bought it. However the people that voted for him did and the grand parents and great grand parents probably fell for the traveling hucksters that sold patent medicines and soap scams. You know the common clay.

It's one thing if someone known for scrupulous honesty and advocacy says he's coming to DC to "drain the swamp" - someone like Ralph Nader or some s***. But believing for heartbeat that some clown like Trump would be anything other than Swamp Creature Extraordinaire?? That's just foolishness from Day One.

The most amusing thing about Trump claim of "draining the swamp"? The most turnover in DC politicians has been among GOP legislators that have either decided not to run again, or have been defeated by Democratic candidates. It's mostly the GOP that's getting kicked out over the last 4 years.

He meant he would stop funding stuff we wanted like Sesame Street, a Pandemic Response program in China, and food for poor children ...

What we knew but he didn't say was that he wanted to take that money and give it to himself and his friends.

This time he hasnt even donated to his OWN campaign a single dollar.

So TexanJeff and Donald J Trump have equally committed financially to the re election of The president of the United States, Donald J Trump

If I remember correctly Steve Bannon came up with it. It's another one of those libertarian platitudes that promise to eliminate government waste and bureaucracy, and by government bureaucracy they mean all government.

Trump didn't think it was a very good slogan at first and was reluctant to say it, but after seeing the positive responses he got, kept using it.

It isn't just a bullshiat slogan, but a fascist one. It's rooted in the Republican disdain for expertise and the federal bureaucracy. They truly believe that the vast majority of the federal government workforce are leeches and parasites to be purged, because they don't care about using government to solve problems. To them government is just a means to personal power and enrichment, and a tool to destroy their enemies.

Just another easily-chantable three syllable slogan that the dumbfark worshipers could easily remember.

Drain the swamp? That was what a politician told Gomez in the Addams Family TV show. Naturally Gomez was against it and decided to run against him.
