These days even in rural Furrymoose Nowhere everybody and their dog is carrying a camera, you'd think we'd have good quality video/photos by now.

And, who in god's name thinks that yes, beings capable of interstellar travel are going to make their first contact with humanity in the middle of farking nowhere Alberta.

Of course, it's just a ploy to try to lure tourists, like the Big Dirty Hoe in Woolerton <spit>.

Not many people know about the secret CIA saucer test program that actually landed there as part of a study to determine how humans would actually react to alien visitors. They employed a bunch of PhD types in Psychology and Sociology and had hoped to to do some long term studies on everything from PTSD to tracking how fast rumors spread. Alas, the top notch CIA UFO crew that landed was surprised to attract absolutely zero attention and left again after just a few hours. After a through reevaluation and review, it was discovered they had left the cloaking device on during during their visit, thus preventing anyone from detecting them. George HW Bush was so pissed he cancelled the program outright.

They built offices around it and called it city hall.

Nah, nah, listen, when you just dropped forty quadrillion Galactic credits on a top-of-the-line spacecraft, you don't want some jackwagon in a Ford Fiesta dinging your paint job.

You park that beauty way the hell out in rural Alberta and walk a little further.

Honest to god if I was an alien and was going to visit here and I knew about that landing pad I'd land there and blow their farking minds.

Lots of icy redneck assholes to probe in Alberta.

"Sir, Earth looks like an ideal planet to visit and share our superior technology with the humans."

"Great job ensign, set a course for Earth."

"Sir, one problem. Their designated landing pad is too small for our craft. We may insult them if we land anywhere else."

"I see. Well, then skip Earth and on to the next planet."

That pad looks like it makes an awful lot of presumptions about the dimensions, weight, and maneuverability of your average UFO. I mean unless the craft is small, roughly circular, and 100% VTOL capable that'd be just about useless as a landing site.

Plus I imagine there's at least one or two mall parking lots not far from there that would offer a lot more breathing room, with perhaps a little work first to remove some lot lighting, and could probably handle more weight too.

Wrong as usual.

You seriously should talk to someone about your obsession.

And before you ask -- yes, the data collected from your butthole has advanced galactic science by many years.

I had some friends in St. Paul and what I learned is that you don't make fun of that when you are there...  There is a not insignificant number of people who take that landing pad rather seriously.  Apparently there were some sightings or something and the pad was built with some degree of actual  belief that something might land there.

Yeah, no kidding.  6 million a year in Banff alone.  Gaylord's obvious mental issues show on every Alberta thread.
