Awkward...

Trump inherited a booming economy and managed through complete incompetence to generate the largest spike in unemployment since the great depression.

We can't get rid of him fast enough.

Republicans don't care. They got to break the Judiciary. That was goal number one for these traitors.

2020-10-24 6:32:44 PM
That just shows how eager folks are to work! Very healthy! A healthy economy!

2020-10-24 7:27:25 PM
That is an astounding number.

Oh Subby, how could over 10,000,000,000 people have filed for unemployment?!

2020-10-24 9:18:09 PM
Oh, and lookie here... now they actually have time to vote!

Hopefully this will help make election day a federal holiday.

I was furloughed for about a week and a half back in the spring before my manager found some budget to bring me back on. That's the first time I've filed unemployment in nearly 20 years of working full time.

it's amazing that trump only talks about himself personally and not about policies or an actual platform.  People are beyond tired of him.  ticktock  motherfarker

And yet, he still has a greater than 1-in-10 chance of winning, and his odds have been improving lately.

I will be adding to that total next week.

That's because they make more money on unemployment and refuse to go back to work.

They really haven't budged in like 5 days. That said a lot of the warning signs in 16 aren't there. District polling looks good for ads and down ballot races look good as well.

Technically correct is a kind of correct

13% chance to win today
12% chance yesterday

Still way too high. If you haven't voted, go get it! Don't you want everyone to be sucking dicks on November 4th?

You see, friends, that once the poors get that pittance we send them...they won't do anything ever again. It definitely won't stimulate the economy. I think it's about tax-cut for the rich o'clock.

/ then, we can give no-bid contracts to the corporations that give us the most campaign money.

I'll believe he's losing (or at least losing too badly to steal the election) when he concedes.

Based on calls I've been fielding, it seems they are being rejected in record numbers as well. What has been shocking to me is which employers are twisting the knife in employee's backs to try to keep them from getting unemployment. It seems small business owners are doing everything in their power to ensure laid off employees are able to collect unemployment. However, at least one local government has allegedly claimed that laid off employees were still employed; categorized employees as dismissed for cause when they have never been written up or reprimanded; listed the wrong job position for dismissed employees; shifted the schedule of single parents to twelve hour work days and listed them as resigned, rather than laid off, when these parents could not be away from young children for (with the commute) 13 to 14 hour days.

Something I realized during this election season. Maybe instead of taking money out of politics we start putting our money into it more than the other guys?

If just to make people like Lindsay Graham beg on national TV.

Looks like they have plenty of time to vote now.  Maybe they should vote for something differant

Isn't it well beyond astounding? Trump received 63 million votes and the workforce is is around 155 million, that would be 40% unemployment, no?  Even in New York, it was only half of that rate.

Even then, and even in consideration of the current situation, 63 million filings sounds unrealistically high. Though I typically don't agree with the poster you're replying to, I also would like to see some data to back up this claim before I take it at face value. So far I've been unable to corroborate it with an (admittedly brief and cursory) Google search.

Much as I hate to question the word of random-guy-on-Twitter-who-I've-never-heard-of, this claim sounds fishy to me.

Well that's just how he rolls.  He inherits huge wealth, claims full credit for it, drives it into the ground, and lives on debt until declaring bankruptcy, and finally walking away calling it a huge success.  Welcome to Trump's America!

Don't forget all the small business owners, contractors, waitstaff, performers, stage crews and other jobs that never get counted as "employed" , but did actually qualify for unemployment this time around. Your "concern" about the numbers  is disingenuous.

Trump wanted to keep businesses open. Democrats were the ones who wanted everything shut down. Don't rewrite history.

I've noticed little bumps towards Trump on aggregate sites. Just little things, like Biden going from 88 to 86 on fivethirtyeight while Trump goes from 12 to 13. The most conservative site I've found, the betting markets https://www.data-science-quarterly.com/ has Biden down from a high of 306 electoral votes to 298.
So yeah I'm getting spooked out. We all remember 2016, when fivethirtyeight got more bullish for Trump in the last days of the election and therefore more accurate, cause Trump won. I found this graph (from here) - fivethirtyeight started getting more accurate and bullish, breaking away from the pack, about 8 days before the election. We are 10 days away from the election. So if we see a repeat, we should see it by mid next week. Crossing fingers and of course, I already voted in my state. (obligatory VOTE! VOTE!)

More people are being tested for unemployment eligibility so more people are going to be infected with unemployment. Why is that so hard for you libs to understand?

For a couple of weeks, at the beginning of this shiat, when it would have helped, yes.

Trump has farked the economy royally by trying to force it to stay open.

So... do 230,000 dead count us unemployed?  Gosh, I wonder what that number would've been had the governors not shut things down.  But I suppose they don't count when they're dead do they?

Well, if the guy who confidently predicted Roy Moore's victory in 2018 thinks Trump is a shoo-in this year, that makes me feel a lot better about Biden's chances.
