I don't see anything wrong with ghost kitchens. The restaurant I work at has several: mac and cheese, wings, burgers, chicken sandwiches. We only do it to go, but it helped us recover after the pandemic caused us to close. Only problem on my end is that all the new product is taking up shelves in the freezer that are supposed to be for my section.

Something has to survive in this new world.  Otherwise we'll all be eating Taco Bell.

"fast-casual chain"... "drive thru"... Salad Kitchen.

Are you farking serious? People wonder why I don't eat out? Why would I bother with schitt like this?

I just picked up a 1lb bin of "spring mix" salad at Costco for $5. I've got other vegetables, beans, HB eggs, (fark bean sprouts), ham, home made bacon, croutons, dressings, blah, blah, blah...
Why the hell would I drive thru for a salad made by ghosts?

And what the fark is "fast-casual"? Sounds like the name of a cruisy public restroom. Same rules apply: you must enter/exit with pants on and you have 5 minutes (sauce on your side). GO!!

What a stupid name and a stupid conversation.

Places that aren't dine in have been around forever.

Once again it's just a new name for something that's been around for a long time.
I'm not even sure what a "ghost kitchen" is. A place that sells food but doesn't have a restaurant with a dine-in option? Yeah. Those have existed forever.

I've ordered salad delivery.  Yes, it is cheaper to make your own, but sometimes that's what I'm trying to avoid.
I cook on average 5 legitimate quality balanced dinners a week for two of us and still knock out my 45hr a week job. For example, we had ribeye sandwiches with garden fresh arrugala on chiabatta, side of roasted shishiato peppers and another side of roasted cauliflower tossed in scratch adobo last week and that was an average mask   I thoroughly enjoy cooking and it's a stress reliever.  Yes it's cheaper to cook if you're compairing apples.  There are days however where I'm exhausted and still want something not fried.  Local joint has an organic salad with roasted brussel sprouts, squash, onions and some other stuff with a garlic dressing.  Sure, I've made it myself, but I've ordered it more times than that. It's fantastic.

So to answer your questions.  I have no idea why you would drive through or order delivery, but I do it for convenience as do most others and I appreciate healthy options to choose from.

Huh?

if you're going to let a typo slip by that early in your article, I'm not going to bother with the rest of it.
