I take verbal abuse from an 80 year old disabled person until I've gotten them out of bed, dressed, into their wheelchair, with breakfast infront of them. Later, I take more verbal abuse while the process is reversed. In between these moments we exchange sarcastic comments about the guests of daytime tv shows. It's really more a lifestyle than a job.

Yeah, that's why we put him into a nursing home. He was pretty cool when he was younger but he turned into a real grouch when he couldn't walk any longer. Sorry he's so mean to you...try to ignore the really good insults.

"You can hear people in the elevators, screaming, 'get me out of here,' I would be too if I was stuck in an elevator for an hour," said Ruthie Como, in a video she narrated and posted to Twitter.

My first thought when reading this...I can think of some people I'd really like to be in an elevator for an hour with...a few that I'd be okay with...and a few where it would be, "This is my side, STAY ON YOUR SIDE!!"

Every time the power blinks, a rodent gets its wings.

Or they get burned off... or didn't have any...  saw a 100% carbon blacksnake at a substation.... when knocked off of the insulator, floated to the ground.  34.5kv don't play...

When electricity in homes and buildings was new, maybe it made sense that architects, builders, and electricians did not anticipate that certain rodents prefer to live near people. In the 21st century, we ought to be able to loose the entire stock of rodents from the nearest pet store into a building without fear of harm to the electrical systems. In this era, anything less than a rodent-proof electrical system is outdated laziness.

We went with plastic conduit and boxes, still have rubber cords...  definitely not rodent-proof.. and you can't rodent-proof an electrical substation.... unpossible..

Google seems to disagree . . .
but the link is thrown out which makes this post considerably less impressive. I guess, Google it yourself.

Also, rodents or no rodents, plastic is not going to last as long as a higher quality material. It is cheaper to buy the higher quality item once than to buy both the lower quality item and it's higher quality replacement.

You expect long-range thinking in our throw-away society ?  Good luck with that...
