While I realize it's not financially viable, George Thorogood playing in a big venue seems wrong. He should be playing in some dive bar.

Drinking alone is a real hoot for a while until it becomes a miserable feedback loop of sub-clinical misery.  My research has shown me that alcohol is not a drug conducive to an imposed and often solitary Pandemic lifestyle.  Cannabis is, though, in my opinion.  And, no, they are not even remotely similar, so I am not equating the two.  Pot is actually fun for the most part and, in excess, doesn't lead to the idea of death becoming an aspirational notion.  I realized more or less recently that the last time I had fun drinking was probably in the early 90s...maybe.

You WERE doing it wrong, then, if you weren't able to enjoy drinking.

Meh, I have better scotch and rum at home than most bars, and if they stocked it I'd be paying an arm and a leg to drink them there.

Truth be told, March-April I was definitely drinking more than I should - I think that was the nerves and raw energy of being locked down. After that, I settled into more of a permanent exhaustion and didn't really feel the need for a drink beyond the occasional beer after mowing the lawn.

One of my favorites:

A man walked into a bar, sat down, ordered 3 shots of whiskey, drank them, then left. This continued daily for several weeks. Curious, the bartender asked him one day, "Why do you always order three shots of whiskey?"

The man answered, "Because my two brothers and I always used to have one shot each, and since they've both passed on, I've continued to order the three shots in their honor."

The bartender thought that this was a very noble thing to do, and welcomed the man every time he visited the bar.

Two weeks later, the man walked into the bar for his daily visit and ordered two shots of whiskey. Surprised, the bartender asked him why he only ordered two when had had always been ordering three.

The man answered, "Oh, I've decided to stop drinking."
