Seems to be the only to way to make sure you'll be able to vote

I wonder if someone has a black sounding name will that supercede the party choice

/probably better safe than sorry

Perhaps those are the people submitting the votes? You can't reject old white people votes if they're not sending them in.

I have a friend who is working for the local election board who said on the first day mail-in ballots could've sorted, 600 out of the 2400 he handled had to be rejected because they were filled out or sent in incorrectly. So thanks, people who can't read and follow simple instructions.

Ballot. Drop. Box.

Use it!

2020-10-22 5:09:12 PM
If Biden wins this election, and is rightfully seated in the WH, the US should set up to have UN elections observers for every 2 year election for the next couple decades lest we get heavily sanctioned for refusing them.

2020-10-22 5:10:14 PM
Dont worry! We will just vote them out and then vote for fair voting! We never have to do anything but fill out a ballot! Thank goodness!

I'm voting in person. Screw this crap. I'll walk through a room filled with coughing COVID patients to vote against Trump.

Note that the guys that worship the free market don't really like the free market of voting. They like to regulate the hell out of it. It seems that some government regulations are just fine and dandy. Funny how that works.

So basically what they're tryign to say is:

The fix is in, the Republicans will cheat their way to 1 party rule, and fark the rest of the nation.

Did I cover everything?

Brainsick: Ballot. Drop. Box.

Use it!

This issue has nothing to do with the postal service. This is about election workers rejecting ballots, allegedly for being filled out incorrectly, signatures that don't match, etc.

Putting your ballot in a drop box does absolutely zero to insulate against this.

It's all about who is counting the ballots, the standards they're applying, and whether they're being applied fairly.

Then the murders begin.

There's something grimly amusing about the fact that the civic process that is ultimately the simplest--one whose algorithm is basically choice(i) = choice(i) + 1--a process that ancient dipshiats who thought "the wheel" was hip new technology could pull of with vases and beans is somehow just too complex for the US to manage. Somehow Kohl's manages to get reliably get coupons to every single farking mailbox, the tax man has zero problem tracking me down when he wants something, but when it comes to the modern equivalent of me dropping a bead into a jar all of a sudden it's like, whoah, hold on there buddy, here's 100k lines of code in a machine that writes to an unsecure SD card, and ridiculously archaic process for maintaining voting roles with arbitrary deadlines, and we're going to need to see some ID and pretend that signature verification is a thing.

Really unless you actually want to be a Democrat party candidate everyone should belong to the Republican party, that way you can vote against them twice in the primary and the general

I'm not saying shenanigans aren't afoot as they definitely are, but I'm curious how much of the difference is due to how many elderly Republican voters there are. You know, people more likely to have been mailing in absentee ballots for multiple elections already, and thus more likely to be used to putting the envelope in the envelope in the washing machine in the envelope, or already have a go-to notary for meeting some states' obnoxious requirements.

I dropped mine the same day I got it; confirmed counted yesterday.

I know that many of the rules concerning absentee and mail-in voting are convoluted, arcane, and may be difficult to comply with but take your time, read them carefully, and follow the directions.  If you are not sure, then reach out to someone you can trust to help you.

2020-10-22 5:19:20 PM
If you really want to get mad watch their similar presentation on how non-handwriting experts can reject your ballot based on their amateur analysis that it doesn't match. My signature is never the same twice, not sure about you guys.

During the 2004 election, the GOP in Florida got caught in a caging scandal wherein if you were a POC you were 4 to 8 times more likely to have your vote nullified.

Caging, for those who don't know, is the GOP sending "Do not forward letters" to people who are not at home, like homeless people but more specifically those in the military and students who live away from home and then when they are returned using that to take them off the voter rolls without their consent and knowledge.

So new year, same old racist shiat is my point here.

I suppose I should take some solace in the fact that the GOP know they have to cheat to win but I dont because I know how proficient they have become at it.

Mouser: AurizenDarkstar: shoegaze99: Mouser: but someone would probably call that hate speech.

The fact that you felt the need to throw this part in is ... interesting.

Pretty sure he's also pissed that the 13th amendment was passed 150 years ago as well.

No, I'm just appreciating the irony that mail-in voting is a de facto literacy test.

Then you should have led with that! 😆

It's not too difficult, it's just that the R party has been fighting really hard for a really long time to make the process not work.  Who shoots down every attempt at election security?  R party.  Who tries to make voting as hard as possible?  R party.  Who tries to prevent voting at all?  R party.

It's not an issue with problem difficulty.  It's malfeasance.

Except the biggest reason thus far is "signature doesn't match" with signature on file. Which has nothing to do with reading instructions and more to do with subjective decisions about signature aesthetics, which can be leaned on when you want to toss out a few hundred ballots.

I'd argue it has more to do with the supposed "ethnicity" of the name on the ballot. The signature matching is a cover.

The plan, if you're new here, has been to prevent any election security bills to reach the senate floor, to challenge the results of the presidential election, and to have the 5-4 Supreme Court vacate the results of the election.

But then Ruth died, and rather than take a chance on that wobbly Roberts getting a case of the constitutional conscience and blowing this. Or shambling, mottled, near corpse-like Mitch McConnell dying and being replaced by the (D) Governor of Kentucky, they're going to jam the largest most ideologically unsound monkey wrench into the already gummed up cogs of justice in order to better assure victory.

So, once again for you in the back:

1. Block election security legislation
2. Claim security failures when you lose
3. Have court side with you 6-3
4. Cash donor checks
5. Profit
6. Boof

So you could have read his comment on literacy as being a problem which needed to be sorted out by improving education among groups who need it... Maybe set up something to provide assistance to folks who are voting for the first time... But no.  Somebody says something which could be interpreted as even slightly negative about a group, that's racist.  I guess the facts are racist too, huh?

There you go Mouser, looks like you're a racist now.  Might as well go vote for Trump.

Austerity, if Trump wins again, we can all give a special thanks to nitwits such as yourself who insist on driving a wedge between people.  You make this an Us versus Them game, and behave like a twat, you're going to drive people to the Them side.  I wish you and your ilk would do everybody a favor and go piss up a rope.

Here in Texas, the signature line on the security envelope is right next to the edge of the envelope flap, so your pen trips over it when you're signing.  😒

I should have tried harder to convince my parents to take the 2 hour trip both ways to vote in person.  Oh well, too late now.  😞

Knowing if a ballot came from a predominantly black neighborhood + the person's name = enough data to pretty accurately guess whether or not a voter is black. It won't be 100%, no, but I wager you can be pretty accurate.
