I'm not really a huge Mac fan, but, it seems kinda farked up how "fleetwood mac" (and by the accounts Iv'e read, STEVIE NICKS) gave him the boot.  Story I read was when I think Pres. Obama gave them some award or some shiat, Lindsey was laughing or smirking or not giving Queen Stevie her due respect as she gave a speech, which really pissed her off, she told the band, "him or me" and they sided with her.  Supposedly.

But then just a few days ago Mick said, after he did his "Dreams" Tik Tok, that he'd been talking to Lindsay and while he stopped short of saying they'd play again, he didn't shoot it down either.

Just farking put your shiat aside and farking play.

What makes it even more farked up is that, while Buckingham may have smirked during her over-long speech, Mick and Christine were mockingly doing a tango dance, to emphasize how long the speech was going on. Stevie chose only to "punish" Buckingham.

Stevie has always struck me as thin-skinned and self-centered.

yeah, i didn't "know" or whatever the story, as i said i'm not a fan (but they have some outstanding songs, just, theyv'e come through town 10-15x over the years and I've never given half a fark to go) but the story was detailed a bit in  either Mojo or Uncut, two british music mags I read.  the article was about the touring iteration of FM, circa 2018 or 2019, and there was a sidebar article about Buckingham's firing.  they had a few stills of the speech / ceremony, and Lindsey was in fact smirking or whatever.  how long was it?  Dunno.

but the article intimated that afterwards, within a few weeks, Stevie's manager / "people" let it be known she was not happy, and then a few months later the band as a whole told Buckingham to beat it.  *shrug*

Twice. They replaced him twice, both times with two new persons.

But to be fair, there are MANY independent reports of Buckingham being physically violent with women (especially Stevie, even many years after they were separated) and he even physically attacked Ken Callait more than once (Rumours, Mirage) and possibly also Richard Dashut and other studio personnel.

He doesn't just have a serious Asperger's-fueled arrogance problem, he's also a real tool with anger management issues. The rest of the band were very much aware of this when they gave him the boot this time.

People can tolerate primadonna attention-whoring behavior a lot easier than a beat down.

I don't want to ruin it for you, but she's probably a maintenance-level alcoholic, is extremely jaded, and hates the fans and sees them solely as a milk cow means to an end. Her days of giving a fark are long over.

I think the only band member who is actually friendly with the fans is Mic, and even then a more cynical person could chalk that up to his need for attention and to be worshipped.

I am quite the FM fan: I have their entire discography on several formats and have read every book published about the band but because if this I am under no illusion whatsoever that they're great people: they aren't. John at least got help for his alcoholic ways early on, Mick's biggest flaw is he can't keep his dick in his pants and likes stealing other people's wives, and Stevie was probably always just a little batshiat even before the decades of cocaine. They're just one big, unhappy, dysfunctional family that works best when they actually work together. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

"We never don't appreciate the fans..."

Oh BULLshiat. It is well known that for decades the band has done everything in their power to avoid contact with the fans when it was not in a stage setting. They never do signings and getting backstage passes means you get to meet the roadies only and get *maybe* some pre-signed swag. Mick is the only band member who would ever meet with the fans in person and even he keeps it to a minimum. That's not "appreciation", it's exploitation. Sure, they "appreciate" you from a safe, healthy distance that means never having to be in your presence or have you breathing their air.

six minutes of anyone talking is too much, but for Stevie Nicks especially

I'm surprised one of his minions didn't accidentally get it taken down. He's the absolute worst on that front and in opposition to the rest of the band. In other words, none of this would have happened if Lindsey Buckingham had written that song instead of Stevie Nicks.

....again*

Try to remember that at their peak, the Original Mac were starting to really tear into the rock/blues market and leave a heavy footpront in the process. Had they not gone 2/3 batshiat insane and lost direction with the loss of Kirwain and Spencer, then later Peter Green, they would have kept on ramping things up and maybe become the main competition for Aerosmith as a very different kind of band.

I hear what you're saying, but FM was *always* popular, they just hit a rough patch that sadly Bob Welch couldn't drag them out of. Stevie Nick's hapless innocence and golden voice combined with Lindsey's obsessive love affair with his guitar were definitely the shot in the arm that the band needed to rise again.

Corn_Fed: No, the rest of the band have all confirmed that she kicked him out over "smirking."

OH COME ON. That's just the bullshiat cover story because really, who wants to just come out and say "We're tired of the verbal abuse and drama queen behavior combined with the occasional actual physical violence at random when you don't get your way and it's way past getting old." Lindsey's crap is well documented. You don't kick someone out for smirking, you kick them out when their bad attitude has always been a problem and a smirk is just a tell for the monster lurking under the surface waiting to strike out again. Hell, Christine McVie, the resident alcoholic, threatened to kick him out if he ever got shiatfaced before a performance again when he almost tanked one of their live shows and went completely off the rails. I can't remember which tour it was but it was probably between Tusk and Mirage, many moons ago when he had already been routinely abusive to the recording studio staff. Ken Callait has barely hid his contempt for that inexcusable behavior and is very clear that he was violently attacked at least once per album, and Mirage is when he threw in the towel and walked away. Remember: I have interviewed Ken in person, it wasn't just in his biography: he reinforced that in person. Ken has threatened to release a second book covering the recording of Tusk and Mirage and the horrors that went along with it but honestly I don't think he will, unless he plans on doing it as part of a greater lifetime biography.

/I have two copies of Buckingham Nicks, had 'em for decades, and the pristine digital edit someone posted on bitTorrent a decade back since the legal wrangling keeps the CD/digital from ever seeing the light of day as anything other than bits & pieces on other collections.
