CSB time:

Both of my goddaughters were born via IVF. Their parents are both hardcore Republicans and voted for Trump. I asked if ACB's view on this was concerning to them and they said no because we got our kids while it was legal. When I said what about if your daughters have the same issue. They said well...it will probably be legal in a few blue states...they can just go there.

I think its a touchy subject because the issue is always dropped there since 1 daughter wants to be a ACLU lawyer mainly in the area of voting rights for minorities and the other wants to be a social worker for immigrant children.

phrawgh: People of Praise used to refer to female members as "handmaids."

Former People of Praise member Coral Anika Theill, who joined the group in 1979 and is now 65, told the Associated Press that when she was a member, women were expected to live in "total submission" to their husbands. Theill told AP, "My husband at the time was very drawn to it because of the structure of the submission of women."

According to Theill, her husband accompanied her to gynecological appointments to make sure she was not obtaining birth control.

Reimers wrote, "A married woman is expected always to reflect the fact that she is under her husband's authority. This goes beyond an acknowledgment that the husband is 'head of the home' or head of the family; he is, in fact, her personal pastoral head. Whatever she does requires at least his tacit approval. He is responsible for her formation and growth in the Christian life."

Women had to be obedient. They had to be subservient."

We have yet to see one very relevant question asked: are we appointing ACB to the court or are we appointing ACB's husband by proxy?

/seems a question worth asking, even if it's OK for Christians to lie in order to establish GOD(S) KINGDOMTM

Any man attracted to that way of life needs therapy.  Red flag.  Run away!

My husband would be sick at the thought. And very bored with me being completely subservient.  And eventually dead when I snap.

She was the only real candidate who was qualified to be POTUS who was running. That was obvious. And yet people who don't know any better, still voted for Trump - like it was the election for Student Council President.

No matter how supposedly unappealing she was, its irresponsible to vote for a criminal jacka**, racist, mysoginist who was not remotely qualified for the office. Her sins, whatever they were, are not even on the same page as the other candidate.

And she got the most votes.

Some of the abortion laws written in southern states punish the doctor with murder, some punish both with murder.

And some have no exceptions for rape nor health of the mother.

Yeah, they're that nuts.

Apparently Fark's quote button grabbed the wrong person.

You're just an asshole.

chewd: Whenever ive had to debate abortion with a pro-lifer i always ask them what they think the punishment should be for women who have abortions.

They never seem to want to punish the woman, they always want to lock up the doctor and let the woman go free. Which is weird because if you hire a hitman, they dont arrest just the hitman.

Like with most things, conservatives dont seem to have thought it through that far.

This is the person I wanted to quote.

Primaries, runoffs, generals. State legislatures, state attorneys general, off-cycle congressional, off-cycle senate... the elections with 33% turnout matter. Stop sleeping on them. This is what happens.

This. When talking to the wife recently I realized that the leftwing and their (our) "revolution" is silly as fark. Everything that fundies have done, they did slowly, methodically, and through the system that's in place. For the left, our lack of civic engagement got us here, nothing more.

Pincy: I'm not sure why this is a surprise? This is the logical conclusion if you really think abortion is murder. People who want to make abortion illegal are lying to you if they deny this.

What should worry people more is that Barrett is someone who is probably on board for expanding the crimes for which the death penalty is applied to them.  It's usually flown under the radar, but there are many Republicans who think that death should be a punishment for more crimes than just capital murder.

Would you kill a 3 year old who was conceived in rape? So why is it ok  to kill a viable baby in the third trimester.

Roe v wade is finished and I'm glad.
Once trump get reelected I'm hoping for an executive order that goes right to the supremes

Why are you talking about third trimester abortions?  Do you have any idea how exceedingly rare they are?  In the rare instances they are performed, they're done for extreme medical reasons involving life or death, or due to horrifying situations so grotesque that the law is not equipped to handle the situation.

"Convenience" third trimester abortions are somewhere in the single or low double digits each year.  Doctors simply won't perform them in general.  Rights to abortion access is about where ~99% of medically elective abortions take place - in the first few months of pregnancy.

Going off on third trimester elective abortions is like making automobile safety laws to curb the existence of pink Triumphs that roll coal.  Focus on the legality of things that exist in large enough numbers to matter.

When it comes to the Republicans?

Basically to lob softball questions to hide what the prospective justice will actually rule when seated.

They know enough that if the person had to actually answer the questions, there are just enough American citizens smart enough to realize she's just as partisan as the Republicans, if not worse.

No. These were the stakes, in 2016 and 2018.

That is certainly a position someone could hold.  Unfortunately, it's also possible for someone to hold the position that anyone in a position of power who thinks so should also be subject to capital punishment.  So we appear to be at an impasse.  Do, please, attempt to force the issue, however.

Not sure which is more vomit-worthy: Barrett's omission or the idjits trying to defend it by misstating the Ginsburg Rule.

Thank you for your considered and well-reasoned opinion, 13-day-old account.

AurizenDarkstar: EvilEgg: Who's death?  The woman or the Doctor's?

Even your anti-choice people recoil at the thought of killing a desperate woman.  She would be guilty of murder for hire in their view of the world.  The doctors they see as pure evil so they have no problem killing them.

If you make it illegal there may be no doctors to kill, but plenty of women will die.

Nope, if it was left up to the people pushing Barrett into that seat, they'd have both the woman and her doctor executed.

Which is totally pro life (eyeroll)

Isn't it funny how Democrats insist on following the rules, and Republicans say "fark the rules, we're getting our judge in". And the Democrats keep losing.

\but hey, that moral victory!

Potential justice ACB, could abortion be a crime punishable by death? ACB: *shrugs*

"Could" or "should?" Because if your question is "COULD abortion be punishable by death," well who the fark knows? Anything's possible with THIS administration. Now, if your question is SHOULD, then that's a question ACB can actually answer.

This is the future you get when you don't vote. Being denied access to birth control and being put to death for a miscarriage ain't that far off, and this woman sounds like she'd be leading the charge for it. Anyone wanna risk letting another republican putting someone on the supreme court? ever again?

I have clumps of cells called 'hangnails' that are more viable than some feteses.

Take your brand new trolling account and get some better bait.

And I don't think you understand how EOs work... or the American justice system.
